Alias: Shock Wave
Powers: Able to project sonic booms by whipping his arms through the air or directly striking an object (such as the ground or an opponent); also has extraordinary hearing
Likes: Punk music, hair gel, studded wristbands, talking about himself
Dislikes: Pop music, emo kids, insomnia, sweatervests

Brian's short stature as a child developed a bit of a chip on his shoulder, making him very confrontational and turning him into a bit of a loner. He wound up scrapping with the other boys at school every time he heard a disparaging remark about his height, which he did often thanks to his unexplainably good hearing. It was at the age of twelve that his sonic boom powers manifested themselves; one day he delivered a punch that sent the other lad hurtling across the playground and threw the surrounding children off their feet. An ear-splitting thunderclap rang out across the school and soon every teacher within earshot (okay, so the ones from the next city over didn't show up) was standing over him.

Luckily Brian's powers were as yet undeveloped and the boy he was fighting only suffered a few scrapes and bruises, as well as a serious wound to his pride. However, young Brian was expelled and his parents sent him to a boarding school. This further fueled his antisocial behaviour and it was here he was introduced to the Punk scene and given the nickname "Shock Wave" by his peers. He was often disciplined for noise violations (not surprisingly), breaking curfew, and again constant fighting. In his defense, the fighting he did was usually while trying to help less fortunate classmates with their bully troubles (knocking down one of the gymnasium walls while battling fellow super-powered classmate Louis Richardson aka Goliath, for example).

Six months after the Brotherhood of Evil's defeat, Shock Wave was discovered by Raven while stopping a pair of miscreants shoplifting at a record store and, in spite of his numerous discipline problems, he was made an honorary member of the Teen Titans. The Titans helped him further develop his gifts but nevertheless, true to his solitary nature, he soon left for Cardinal City to strike out as a superhero on his own. He and Robin hardly if ever see eye to eye and argue frequently (occaisionally coming to blows) so needless to say there is no love lost between the two.
