Description
Name: Gloðþrúðnir, “Glod”, “Thrud” ('Mighty Osprey' in some sort of mishmash Icelandic mess, name schema referenced from Vafthrudnir in the Vafthrudnismal)
Race/species: originally a troll, but so magically altered that he bears little resemblance to his original appearance
Gender: Male
Height: a little under eight feet fully straightened up, but because Thrud is almost perpetually hunched over, he stands closer to 5’-5’6” normally.
Physical description: a gray-blue, hunched figure, perpetually hooded and cloaked, with scaly fingers like an osprey’s zygodactyl talons and faintly luminous gold eyes, like that of a snake. On his back are a number of jagged green glassy spikes, but these don’t always look consistent and seem to have more to do with some sort of curse or another than a natural part of his appearance. He either wears very large, shapeless boots or walks about barefoot, and when barefoot it is clear that he has massive zygodactyl talons as his feet as well.
Without his cloak, he has a face almost like a beak, and feathers running down his head and back in place of hair. Down his chest he has grayish scales, and these scales are patchy and dull, almost diseased in appearance. Nonetheless, he’s got the build of a brick outhouse and the magical chops to back that up. Not a fast runner, though.
He has the ability to transform into an osprey or a spiny lizard.
Glod should look sort of old and withered if he’s wearing his cloak, spooky and kind of gross, but without he should just look like A Weightlifter. A Jock.
Glod is under from multiple curses. The spikes on his back, the scales on his chest, and the shape of his hands and feet are from spells he didn’t intend to do or spells cast upon him. Unlike these, his feathers and birdlike features were an intentional change he had made upon himself on purpose. None of these are natural, though, and if he were to have children they would be gray and dark brown, furry, and look more cow-like in the natural way for trolls.
Personal description: easygoing, but a little tricksterly. He does well by his ruks, but doesn’t care much for people or for social rules, and he’s willing to press on or bend taboos as long as he doesn’t quite agree with them. This comes out especially in how he likes to try and win over rukaans, because his favorite “trick” is to challenge them to a riddle competition (which he is confident that he’ll win), a magical competition (which he is confident he’ll win), or a physical race (wherein he cheats by turning into an osprey and flying to the finish line to the dismay of the rukaan he’s attempting to win over). These are all highly frowned upon methods, of course, but he’s confident that once the rukaan is under his care, he will be able to ensure they were happy and taken care of. Also equally common, he makes deals for a “firstborn calf” or something the same way that fantasy witches would ask for a firstborn child in exchange for a boon or spell. Despite these underhanded, nearly poacher-like methods, he is fiercely defensive of and kind to the rukaans under his care, lavishly spoiling them with treats and desert and offering them significantly more relative freedom than most trainers. He uses magical means to communicate with and keep an eye on his ruks as well as flying through the air to find them, so he is more than happy to allow his ruks to wander the countryside like their wild counterparts so long as they’ll return when he asks.
He is surprisingly honorable and will always keep his word, in spite of his underhanded ways. He sees nothing odd about this, because he considers himself beholden to his own rules and no one else’s. He never lies, and he rarely instigates fights without someone else causing the “inciting event”- his favorite response to violence is to simply reflect the same violence done upon him onto the perpetrator thereof. He can defend himself physically, if he should want to, but it offends his sensibilities when he could simply show someone the error of their way through magical means.
Thrud prefers not to speak if it isn't necessary, and will often respond to questions he doesn't feel like answering or which he views as stupid by simply holding up two fingers in a peace sign. When he speaks, he chooses his words carefully.

The rukaan in the background of this piece is R-0855 Katjaana, one of his rukaans.
