A strange small Fearsome Critter of the water ways of Maine, reported until turn of the 20th century cataloged in the book Fearsome Critters(1910) with the Billdad being one of the few of the Fearsome critters who's not known to kill/hunt humans or really any animal the size of the Billdad or bigger.
Instead the billdad is said to be an exclusive fish eater. They were described as a small kangaroo like beast with a flatten tail end and instead of a mammal like face they are said to have a beak like a hawk.Their methods of hunting go as follows the Billdad will wade into shallow weedy eddies along rivers shores. They then wait for a fish to come to the surface to eat flies and then the Billdad will leap with remarkable swiftness over the water and then slap the fish with it’s paddle tail.
The resulting sound is almost indiscernible between the sound of a canoe paddle hitting the water

My take on the Billdads are a North American aquatic Monotreme that’s favorite prey is panfish. It hunts with its previous mentioned technique.Scared of larger animals even deer will spook them which results in them diving into the water.Birthed from a clutch of 4-8 eggs,hatch lings staying close to their parents’ burrow along the riverbank.After their first year they become sexually dimorphic,with the hens(females) finding a spot to build a burrow lined with waterlogged sticks. They build these burrows along riverbanks.and the jakes(males) will pair up with a hen(females). Then the hen rears the youngsters meanwhile the jake(males) catch upto 1ft perch&pan fish to bring back to hens(females)

The last cryptidABCs post(CryptidABCS#0036ig Bird) I posted got as of time of writing zero favs but then again the Big Bird is very obscure and my take on it is rather non-realistic so I’ll chalk it up to that.In the future I want to post something different in addition Some original Magic The Gathering Cards, I of time of writing are working on the finishing touches on the custom Magic cards. Until then I’ll just just keep posting the cryptidABCs series and my original creatures seeing how I have a massive backlog of art to be posted
