"Skull Leader, Skull 3...4 Bogies dead ahead, acquired on automatic radar response..."
"Skull 4, Skull 3... Bogies 3 and 4 are yours! Fire on my lead!

... the mic crackled static...

"Skull Leader, Skull 3... I've got tone, I've got tone! Fox 3, Fox 3!..."
"Skull Leader, Skull 4... Good tone... Fox 3, Fox 3!"

... The Pilot of Skull 3 took a second to scan the skies around him for threats, his head going up and around as on a swivel then back to his radar screens. His RIO with eyes glued to his tracking and intercept gear came suddenly into his intercom...

"Crap! We got a problem Mike... 2 bogies coming up fast... looks like an intercept pattern on Skull lead!"

... then on the radio... "Skull Leader, check six check six... 2 bogies in bound your six! Return pattern looks like a Mogwai type and an Esu... inbound fast!"

"Skull 3, Skull Leader... I got these slackers! Skull 2, break hard left on my mark... Mark!... Pop Chaff, pop Flares!"

Both fighters, Skull Leader alone in his AVF-35-J Improved VGF and his Wing-man Skull 2 and his RIO in an older YF-35, banked hard into the turn throttling up to full after-burners in the process as tracers swept between them... Flares popping from the countermeasures pod beneath Skull Leader...

...It was gonna be a long day...
