wow! well, it would've taken me forever, anyway
I seem to take much longer when using vectors as opposed to freehanding it. But you use them so well, and make such complex and awesome pics... It's great stuff!

While I can't say much on your technical proficiency, because I don't see anything overtly wrong or inadequate in your skill, and you're better than I am on a technical level, I am having problems with this as an interpretation of Ultra Magnus. While many of the overall elements of Magnus are present (the general colourscheme, the shoulder mounted missile launchers, the large shoulder struts) this interpretation is thrown off by the big yellow triangles on his shoulders, the lack of a face (as opposed to a faceplate as you have here) and the lack of parts that look as if he would be able to transform. Overall I think it comes across as much more Gundam than Transformer and, while there is nothing inherrently wrong with that, I think that, as far as this jam is concerned, it deprives the overall whole of a more accurate and Magnus resembling picture.

Why thank you! It's ok that you don't see it my way, but just to explain it;

The yellow triangles were there kinda like a military ranking symbol. I was going for more of a simple face, with protruding chin, but I see how you could've interpret a faceplate. I wasn't going for that, I assure you.

As for the lack of visible transforming parts, well, G1 Ultra Magnus hid his well [link] and recent transformer designs do well with that, too.

The jam had no restrains on which style that would be used, so I went with my own.

Anyways, I appreciate the comment.

I kind of have to disagree with you on G1 Magnus. He certainly had the majority of his parts hidden, but it was always evident that he had wheels on his feet and he had bits of truck carriage for arms etc.

Fair enough on the chin thing. I think some extra detailing would have helped you communicate the face with chin better.

Fair enough, as well, on the attempt at military insignia. I think actual chevrons would have worked better.

True, true, there were those, but I was talking about the cartoon version? Like every other transformer, the animation models often left out such details.

Well, the wheels certainly were left out, but his arms were always the carriage frame, clearly, IMO.
