I hope I creep no one out by this, but I like how he looks depressed in this, and I say that because it falls into the main personality traits he possesses throughout the story, mainly the middle bulk.
Admittedly in the beginning and end he is happy, however for most of the centre part of the comic, his attitude is somewhat depressed, and I think this cover portrays that rather well
