Description Music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUnEQc… (it helped me to get into night scene mood. Totally recommend if you're willing to draw some night works. )

(Due to camera issues I post this a little later than I meant to. It still isn't perfect but I can't do better now, can't even scan it, I tried but the scanner don't see the lightest parts...)

Only a bit less than three month for the game!!! And this year's first proper finished drawing is, of course, Breath of the Wild themed! I just got so bumped about the trailer and I instantly fell in love with both the perspective with Epona and the snowy mountains scenery I had to draw them! And so my brains just simply mixed those two into one. xD I guess I have a mild "obsession" to this steed. But hey everyone's drawing Zelda, I wanted something different and study landscapes once more, because those are so gorgeos in the game. XD Also included the arctic fox there, it just was too adorable! (For the fox's sake I hope we can't hunt them, bomb-fishing is already worse enough. Poor fish... )

My biggest problem with this work was probably; how to colour a night scene without the sky being visible. (until later I realized there actually was a narrow shred of sky visible in the ref) So I watched this tutorial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjgJX3… and went even so far as to buy new Copics. It was a wise choise, I got more lighter greys, some helpful blues and a colourless blender. I also studied some horse anatomy while working on this, mainly for the legs, head and bust. Horses are jus such gorgeous and majestic creatures, can't get over them! Also wanted to draw Link in his winter tunic but figured his neck would look a bit too nacked with it so I picked the gorgeous cloak from the trailer to give him at least something to cover it a little. At first I thought I'd do the background with just watercolours but this: thestarlightprincess.deviantar… showed me that why not do it with Copics instead. And so I did and I think it really worked out better than I thought. The snow(fall) is made with white opaque and gouache.

This is like and upside down version from this: thestarlightprincess.deviantar…
But I personally like this a lot more, it's like that older one had taught me many things that I got right and better in this work. Finally a work that I can really say I'm proud of! I couldn't be happier with this, it's even snowy and all (and snow is hard to colour) it truly surpassed my expectations and limits! Well, I hope you like it as much as I do! ^^

Time: About 10 hours.
Used: Creta Colour pencils for sketching, Copic [Nylon Brush] ink pen, Copic Ciao/Sketch and Copic Markers, white opaque and gouache.
Drawn/painted on Copic Paper Selections: A4 Premium Bond Paper.

Ah yeah I've been wanting to play this one, but haven't actually got the game yet. Love the work you did on this one, the snowflakes, the lighting, all of it is just really nice.

Thank you! It's a lovely game, such a shame I don't have Switch for easier screen shots. X'D I remember, despite the struggle of tones, I had lot of fun with this piece. The horse particularly was fun to work on.

Oh yeah that's right I had forgotten that it came out on the wii u as well as the switch. Yeah horses are something I need to practice with since I have never really drawn them that much before. But for a legendary hero like link they're just about mandatory

lol, so true! What is true hero without a dazzling steed? Horse anatomy is complicated, but very interesting and fun when you get into it.

It's traditional, mainly done with Copic Markers.

Thank you! It's a shame I can't take a better shot at it but perhaps it'll look good at least on my wall. Also I don't know what you think but that large white dot in the sky was supposed to be a snowflake but it started to look like a moon. lol
