Description
Focusing on Lana and her mother, Renarya, both of them have been captured by the evil Black Mermaids and placed in an underwater prison cell. Lana is stuck in human form, and with the entirety of the Black Mermaid Palace shrouded in a magic spell that cuts off magic power from anyone else, Renarya is unable to change her daughter back into a mermaid. Overwhelmed with helplessness, the Pink Mermaid Queen breaks down in tears and cradles her drowning daughter. If these would be Lana's last moments alive, at least her mother would be there for her to comfort her as she slips away.Think of this as a "what could have been" scenario from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. When Melody was sealed in that underwater cave with a layer of ice, what if the evil Morgana decided to trap Ariel with Melody? Ariel would be in a helpless situation watching her daughter drown and being unable to save her.

*They finally arrive at Rune Town and are noticed by a single townswarrior.*
Amazon: Lana? Who have we got here?
Lana: His name is Yoru. He somehow just turned up and he needs a place to stay. Also, a new family wouldn't hurt.
*The Amazon has a closer look at Yoru.*
Amazon: Well, I must say that we rarely have encounters of the kind of animal people that walk upright.

Amazon: Aw, you look cute, little fella. *laughs* And you must be hungry. Hey, if you're looking for a family, perhaps Magis and his foster parents will take you in. They have one of the biggest houses in town, but that's because it can double as a shelter. Come on.
*So Lana leads Yoru and follows the Amazon to Magis' house. Yoru sees a young boy, Magis, tending to a young pony with a beautiful blonde mane and tail.*

Magis: Hey, Lana! Hmm? Who do you have here?
Lana: This is Yoru. He's from... elsewhere. He needs a new home and I thought Rune Town would be a good place.
Magis: Have you tried a shelter yet?
Lana: I think he wants a new family.
Magis: What happened to his current family?
Lana: They mistreated him, so he ran away.
Magis: And somehow he wound up here?
Lana: I think so... Yeah.
*Magis talks to Yoru.*
Magis: Well, uh... Yoru, was it? What do you think? You wanna stay with me and my foster parents? They're nice people.
*He then looks over to the pony.*
Magis: Oh, that's Gracia. Her parents were war ponies who fell in a great battle, so we're raising her. You don't have to be afraid.

*Magis's foster parents show up.*
Marin: Oh? Who's this adorable little critter here?
Robin: He doesn't seem to be from around here.
Magis: His name is Yoru and he wants a family. He's been separated from his old family, but they didn't treat him too well anyway.
Marin: Has he come as a refugee?
Robin: Honey, we can take him in just like we took in Magis. He can be loved with us.
Marin: Well... I can't imagine who wouldn't love this feller. *notices Yoru shaking* Oh, sweetie, there's no need to be afraid. Do you want us to be your family? We can take you in.

*She kisses Yoru on the cheek and starts to leave.*

*Lana waves back and hurries off towards the ocean. Marin, Magis's foster mother, then places her hands on Yoru's shoulder.*
Marin: You must be starving. Can we get you anything?

Marin: Well then, let's go inside. We can all eat.

Renarya: And we still need to escape this prison cell. Thankfully, the Black Mermaids built their cages so that they can't reach in and grab this... device.
