Description

The Fires ravaged through the lands. Vetru, their only hope to quell the flames, was missing.

The esk had divided into groups. Some to guide the fleeing animals from danger, while others went to search for the missing Vetru.

In the hustle and bustle of chaos caused by the tree-high flames, some of the smaller esk (including Imp) were left behind. Fearful and confused, they managed to somehow group together on a large boulder, high above the stampede of legs in the growing catastrophe. Imp watched as the growing panic spread further through the ranks of Esk. He could feel the words through the air; 'No Vetru? What do we do without Vetru? Where is Vetru?'

"We have to do something!" Said a small pansy Esk "Everyone else is doing something, I want to help save the day too!"

The other Esk nodded in agreement. Imp sighed and nodded too.

And so The Small Search Squad was formed. Imp looked around at this fellow tiny team mates. 'We may be small' He thought 'but we...May do... Something relating to..big..ness.'

They set out into the fire ravaged lands, each Esk telepathically calling out for Vetru. The lack of grass making them quicker than Imp's failed attempts earlier.

Soon the Search Squad caught up with the flames. They stood there in silence looking over the charred, grey lands. The tiniest Esk of the group, A seafloor esk, spoke up, his tiny voice quivering.

"Vetru will come back right? The land will be okay afterwards?" He turned his wide eyes towards Imp. Imp shifted. He didn't know what to say. Without Vetru they had no hope of stopping the fire. Afterall hadn't Vetru stopped the flames from consuming the lands before?

Imp turned to the tiniest esk. "Everything will be fine! You'll see!"

The seafloor esk turned, hope reignited by Imp's words. Imp looked out at the burning grasslands.

He wished he believed it too.

I struggled so hard with this picture and I don't even like it :'D Maybe because its so desaturated (on purpose) or maybe its cos I've been looking at it too long???.
