Very cool. What kind of mind blade did he typically go for?
Also, did you use the 3.5 rules or the Pathfinder rules from Dreamscarred Press?

Generally split into short swords for the defensive perks, as for effects, I didn't have a set go-to effects, but I switched for foes whenever possible.
We ran 3.5 when I had old Cog. recently dusted him off for a sequel of sorts where we used a ground-up homebrew (MouseGuard meets FATE meets Pathfinder).
He ported over very nicely and I had room to give him extra abilities:
Allow him to do tiny teleports around the battlefield kinda like Nightcrawler from the X-Men, and the ability to dual wield them as broadswords.

Yeah, I think "badass" is a perfect word to descibe him. I have a soulknife kalashtar in one campaign. Is soulknives just natural badasses or what?
