Thee tone of this image is interesting. Although we the theme is an awakening, the feeling of this image is rather dark and somewhat in contrast to what we think of when we think of "awakening", which some people relate to brilliance. Metaphorically, for instance, to be awake is to see the light.
However, I think this piece is meant to perhaps represent the more literal sense of awakening. The blurred background, the messy hair, the rather zombie like appearance. In this work, awakening is not about brilliance, or immediate revelation. It is about the disorder, the disorientation and uncertainty that one must often face in order to finally be awake.

Yes you are rather right. Seeing too many zombie movies, the awakening that I meant was the awakening from the dead, but also as you say the disorder you have to put up with in order to really wake up.

beautiful. I love the expression on her face and the colors are as crisp as the winter scene. It reminds me of some gothic fairy tale from long ago. I guess that's what her body language and the eye shadow is telling me anyway.
