Description
I was commissioned to make a Canaanite style khopesh, but with a fairly well developed guard (they normally have little to none). The tricky bit was, since this was going to England, land of peculiar blade laws, I was limited to no more than 50cm for the blade, which made designing a guard that didn't look disproportional rather difficult. The result was a knuckle bow with a nagel that extends about halfway down the handle, kind of like the knuckle bow of a Polish saber.
Blade is about 19", made from 5160 from a leafspring, guard is mild steel from... something, handle is white oak finished in linseed oil.
