     They bought Alex home later that week. Of course, he would have to visit the hospital weekly and would need around the clock supervision from family members. This was no problem, seeing as Josh was still on break and Lillian had no job. He was even on medication. This came as no surprise to Alex or his parents,but it made Josh upset. It wasn't like his brother was violent or crazy......

     Adam made a conscious effort to keep the windows up so people couldn't see his elder son as they drove home. Alex was nearly comatose due to the medication the doctors had given him before he left. Everyone was on edge. Adam was infuriated, Lillian was stressed, and Josh was overexcited. Everyone else looked like they had to be medicated.

     It was so different, yet the same to Alex. The house seemed brighter then when he left, yet it had a familiar smell. Their room was much different. The only thing that was the same was the bunk bed. The room was repainted red and posters of bikes, teen idols, cars, and other miscellaneous things that young adolescent boys would be interested in. Josh even had a laptop. The only time Alex ever had internet would be at school or the library.

    "Don't worry," Josh said softly, closing the door behind them. "I made sure Mom and Dad didn't get rid of your stuff, it's all up in the attic," Josh took a seat on his lower bunk and patted for Alex to sit next to him. "So, how do you feel? You haven't said anything, so, um are you....okay?" Josh's maturing face was full of worry.

   "I-I'm fine, everything is just ...it....it is so different." Alex felt odd talking to a real person. He knew in his mind something wasn't right the entire time he was in his own personal hell,but he just couldn't escape. It felt like a miracle to be sitting here talk to Josh, even if he looked different. "Did anyone else know were I was?"

   "No, they....they didn't want people to know, so they lied and said they sent you to live with Uncle Richard." Josh replied quietly.

   Alex cringed at the thought of living with that particular uncle. He was glad that Uncle Richard moved so far away, that way Josh never met him and hopefully, never would.

  "Alex, someone is here to see you!" The boys simultaneously stood up to tend to their mother's call.

   "Alex!" Arms were wrapped around Alex's shoulders. "You look....different," she tried to sound kind,but Alex knew he looked horrible. His face was unshaven and his hair was in between short and long, making it look awkward and greasy.

    "H-hey," he seemed emotionless to them reuniting,but it was his half asleep state due the required medication. He was actually very glad to see a familiar face,but she ever changed. She was always pretty to him, even when she was heavier,but now she was just...glowing.

   Elle sat with Alex in the backyard and chitchatting about nothing. Then he noticed something that made his heart skip a beat. An engagement ring on her finger....
   "You...you're getting married?" he said, trying to sound glad for her,but hiding his own displeasure.
    "Oh, yeah!" she grinned. Her gaze went to the shimmering jewel on her thin finger. "I'm so glad you came back in time!" she said happily.

     "Me too," he sighed. What else had changed sent he'd been gone?
