   The foursome trotted through the empty streets. A sickening feeling in all their stomachs, due to the fact they had not seen a zombie for miles. Only dead,human, bodies. Had the virus reacted differently in this area? Or had someone come through and wiped out all humans in sight? Either way, it wasn't looking pretty.

   They were far from New Orleans by now. Yet another evacuation had failed. The helicopter took off without them and bombed the entire area. If it wasn't for Ellis's idea to hide in empty refrigerators, they'd all be dead. They didn't want to admit it, but they had just been wandering around. They had no destination.

   "Ya think...maybe there some people round here? Y'know...ALIVE." Ellis finally spoke up, fear prominent in his voice.

    "Doubt that,boy. We been traveling for a while here and ain't seen nothing. Maybe that ain't such a bad thing." Coach spoke out, trying to ease the boy. He had known the worse thing to do in a crisis was panic. The oldest in the group was pretty good at calming people down. He had to do so whenever one of his players had been injured. They may have only been a coach to high schoolers, but those kids played rough. Plenty had their share of bones poked out and sprains throughout the season.

    There was a silent moment before another one of the survivors choked out a statement into the stale air. "Why don't we find some place to stop at? I know it's early and all, but...my feet kind of hurt...and this place seems pretty safe." Rochelle nervously chuckled. There was a silent agreement amongst them to go with her idea. It isn't like they were in a rush to get anywhere or anything.

    "Jesus Christ, Ellis!" Nick pounded on the kid's back as he choked on the hot dog he had scarfed down. He was practically inhaling it. Nick warned him over and over again to slow down, but he wouldn't listen. Finally, Ellis coughed up the slight chewed food, before swallowing it again. The suited man winced.

    "Ahahaha. Can't blame him. This is the first time we've been able to sit down and eat some good food. It is nice..." Rochelle exhaled as she leaned back on the picnic chair. They had found a local food eatery with an outside balcony. It was connected to a few empty apartments. The survivors decided this to be their dwelling for the time being. It seemed that after a certain distance, there were no safe houses. People didn't even bother.

    "Look what I found..." Coach said bringing out a beer for each of his comrades. "...seems as though this place sure as hell was stocked up on drinks and eats." Coach tossed them one each before sitting down and cracking open his own.

    Sounds of laughter and story telling filled the small balcony as they had a well deserved moment of peace. Drinks upon drinks were given to each survivor to the point of forgetting the zombie apocalypse. All seemed fine until a moment of silence fell upon each survivors.

    "What...ddddo we do now?" Ellis said in a drunken slur, tears beginning to drip down his strained face. Nick's hand crept up to rub his neck soothingly.

   "Who knows...." Nick sighed gently. " All we can do is...survive."
