     If only. If only he was smarter then. Wiser. Why, why did he have to be so stupid? And Malik paid such a high price. Kadar, poor Kadar. He paid the highest price of all: his young life. So many regrets, so many innocent lives.So much pain. So much hurt.

       He knew that he couldn't do anything. He couldn't give Malik back his arm or revive Kadar,but his heart wrenched every single time he saw that familiar tanned face. He would give anything to right those wrongs,but he knew an opportunity like that would never surface. Even so he hoped. Hoped for a chance to redeem himself.

      "How may I help you, Brother Altair?" Malik's calm voice sent shivers down Altair's spine.

      "I'm so sorry....." Altair whimpered out. His voice was barely audible to himself, let alone Malik.

      "Speak up, I can not understand you." Malik said with a concerned tone.

       "Forgive me, for everything. For Kadar, for your arm, for always being how I am...I....forgive me." Altair pulled away, realizing what he just said most likely shocked Malik beyond all sense.

        "You...you really mean that, don't you?" Malik looked deep into Altair's eyes.....into his soul. His hand gently reached for Altair's shoulder. The hooded assassin pulled farther back, not wanting to reveal the tears that stained his tan cheeks. "Please, look at me...."

          "I am so...so sorry. I know I can never do anything or say anything that will make you forgive me,but I-" Altair inched ever so closer to Malik.

           Malik's gentle hand traced  Altair's face has another tear rolled down. "I forgive you, for everything, you needn't say anymore." A slight smile overtook his lips.

           Altair leaned over gently, embracing this amazing forgiving man. "I will always be there for you, no matter what."
          "Thank you......"

           Finally, finally. He can express his feelings and correct the mistakes he made. Finally, finally; this assassin's heart is one step closer to peace.
