       This was a rather strange predicament Altair was in. Why was HE the one being PROTECTED? Why was he the one on the ground, bleeding profusely from his stomach, barely able to move? It all had happened so quickly. All he could think of was the sharp pain that shot up from his stomach to his throat. He remembered running and climbing. He clearly wasn't thinking because he dropped his sword to grab his stomach and stop the bleeding. Bad idea. And how....how did Malik get involved in this? However it happened, he and Altair were now stuck on the roof of an exceptionally tall building. If one were to fall from this height, they'd be finished.

        "Look it, surrender yourself, Assassins! And tell us your next target. Maybe you will be spared or at least granted a quick death. You are completely outnumbered...." One of the several Templars that encircled them mustered out. He snickered manically. "The only defense you have is this one-armed man? Pathetic...."

        "My one arm as more then enough skill to kill you all...and I WON'T let you harm him anymore!" Malik shouted back, readying his sword for battle.

        Altair began to feel darkness shrouding him....he just wanted to close his eyes and sleep. His head began nodding off. Malik noticed this behavior out of the corner of his eye. No...he couldn't let someone else precious to him die. "Altair! Stay alert!"

        Soon, the battle began. Swiftly dodging any enemy attacks, Malik dispatched two of these nuisances. He may have lost an arm, but his determination and skill weren't diminished. A few more good swings and counters and these men would easily be taken care of. That was until one of them had a hold of Altair. Holding him by the throat, and lifting him up. The man reared back his blade, bound set on finishing the injured assassin. Altair tried and tried, but his body was far to weak.

       "NOOOO!" Malik screamed. The distraction made him pay the highest price. That one split second changed it all. While Malik ran towards Altair who was dropped back on the ground, a blade was driven through his back, appearing out of his stomach. "Ugnh..." was the only noise that could escape his lips. His attacker pulled out the blade and grabbed him by his shirt, before pushing him off the side of the building.

       Time seemed to slow down. No noise escaped Malik's lips. Altair crawled over the edge to see his dearest friend, laying in his own blood. The crimson liquid seemed to form a beautiful swirl like pattern around his body. His face was completely unharmed. His lips...they almost seemed to be curled in a smile, or maybe it was all in Altair's mind. Malik's murderer stepped on Altair's back, caused him to gasp from the pain. Blood still dripped from his wound. The man grounded his foot deeper into his aching back.

     "Tell us what we need to know, and we'll make it quick. You'll join your little friend soon enough..." Altair mustered up enough strength to not only push this bastard off of him,but to stumble to his feet.

     "You are right, I will join him soon,but I'll never tell you what you desire..." Altair began backing up slowly. "I'll be with you soon, Malik...." He said to himself, before letting his legs slip out from beneath him. The assassin landed next to Malik, almost perfectly facing him. His eyes closed...he was dead. Their blood seemed to mingle together for many moments before citizens gathered around their dead bodies, gasping and crying.
