     Adam was driving like a madman, cutting through back alleys and avoiding anywhere someone who knew of their duty could be. So close, the city limits were in sight. Josh latched onto Alex in the back seat, scared shitless of his father and completely confused.

     "W-were are we going?" Josh whispered to his older brother.

     "I don't know,but just listen to dad, okay?" Alex looked into Josh's wide brown eyes. He hugged his brother tightly and silently sobbed. He would die for Josh and he almost did. Josh gripped his brother back and sobbed into Alex's wet shirt.

     The family unloaded into a cheap motel, just for the night. Adam and Lillian shared one bed, while Alex and Josh shared another. Both boys were in their pajamas and their parent's were outside, talking.

     "Alex..." Josh was already under the covers. "...are we ever going back?"

     "I dunno...."

      Alex was exhausted and decided to sleep as well. Lillian and Adam talked for hours.

      "You know there will be consequences." Adam told her.

       "I know,but.....I'm glad our children are both safe...." Adam looked away,but she pulled him forward. "I love you, Adam." She kissed him deeply. "Let's go to bed...."

      When the clock switched to midnight, the entire room changed. A siren blared that caused the entire family to wake from their slumber. The walls, furniture, and floors peeled away to reveal bloody, dirty, and pulsating surroundings. Alex grabbed Josh out of the dirty bed and stood up. He held his younger brother above the floor in his arms. The floor squished under Alex's bare feet. Lillian and Adam stared at each other through the darkness with blank expressions.

     "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?" Alex screamed through the blaring siren. Josh buried his face in the older boy's chest.

    Adam and Lillian both stood up.

    "We don't know."

    "Stay calm, Alex, sweetie. You to, Josh." Their mother tried her best to make them feel better,but their terror was just beginning.
