Description
.. for a Christmas set?Couldn't post it earlier as this was a gift for my mum
Pandoro was an 'experiment' and it didn't really turned out as I hoped.
Bottle was a little experiment, too, and it took me 3 failed attempts to get this one. It still needs alot of perfectioning.. and I wish I had some kind of air-dry resin (?) instead of liquid Fimo
Everything is handmade with polymer clay, paper and acrylic paints.

Thank you! I did make a mold for the bottle, but I used liquid p. clay instead of casting resin and it shows, eheh

Amazing
The air holes make the cake looks really realistic, did you make them with baking soda?
I like the transparency of the wine bottle too
There's a kind of resin in my place which would dry in 24 hours in an almost transparent way. The price is reasonable, though I am not sure how it is called in English... let me check it

thinkpastel In reply to Nassae [2012-01-18 13:05:07 +0000 UTC]
Yep! Basically, you have to mix a tiny amount of baking soda to TLS and clay, then pour in a little tin and bake. It feels like baking a real cake
Oh, please, could you really check that name? That would be very very appreciated!

I see, I didn't bake my clay so I just added them into ADC, and the result wasn't so clear. I will surely try polymer clay when I can buy an oven
I checked it out, it is epoxy resin which Sapphire mentioned about. Though it's sold for only HKD$45(I guess around Euro$4.5?) for 160g here [link] 160g is quite a lot use for minis, I haven't use up 1/3 of them after a year.
Maybe you can check your craft stores and see if there's any? Perhaps local shops will sell it in a lower price
Hope this helps

I think this should work with ADC as weel - I read a tutorial about this a while back but I didn't save it (I don't have ADC). If I find it I'll link it to you
Ps. keep in mind that the more baking soda you add, the more "bubbles" you get!
Thank you and wow, does the price drop! I want to move to Honk Kong now
Love the site you linked me! Can't read a word but there's so many pretty things
*opens up google translate*

I experimented baking soda with ADC before, however if too much baking soda was added, they broke into pieces like scrambled egg (which is what I have used them for afterwards xP). I wonder what I have done wrong
I'm glad that you enjoy the site They are willing to ship overseas,
so you can consider them if you really want to buy one, though I am not sure how much the postage will cost.
Maybe you can find some epoxy resin in Italy too

I have used resin superglue recently for air-dry sauce, if that may help.. :3
But this is amazing!! Great texture! I looove the little extra details always present and your amazing photo compositions too

What is resin superglue exactly? Is it like epoxy glue..? Oh I'm so ignorant
And thank you

Zhoira In reply to thinkpastel [2012-01-18 19:40:02 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I think so, I just call it resin glue because it has 2 tubes, one called resin and one called hardener, and you mix them together xD

And you managed to color it? If so, I'm going to try immediatly, I have that glue (somewhere)

You could try epoxy resin for jewelery. If you want to buy online, check this [link] and this [link] out. They are kinda pricey though. The latter works great, but it's the only one I've tried. You can color it with food coloring (but only a drop or two), a dab of oil paints, or chalk pastels. Acrylics would just turn it opaque.

Aaaw thank you!
I don't usually buy online, but this is a great help anyhow - I finally have names
Also thanks for the tip about acrylic paints (Likely, I would have used those )

Oh my gosh, woman. That's amazing! xD I've heard of people using air dry resins before and they work really well, apparently. I don't know the kinds that were used, though. Lol But yeah, that cake is amazing. Totally in love with it. And your display and photo set-up is amazing, too, as always! Fantastic job!

I know! I see alot of miniaturist using this resins and they look gorgeous. I even remember seeing a tutorial time ago that teached how to make a glass of beer with resin (complete with foam! amazing).
But when I went to my usual craft store they had a dozen of different kind of resins and I had no idea of wich one to pick. It doesn't help that they're pretty expensive
Ps. Thank you

Shacchan In reply to thinkpastel [2012-01-13 21:40:27 +0000 UTC]
You're welcome~
And I know exactly what you mean! It's hard to choose when you don't know what brand is good, and the price doesn't help. Especially considering there are some items that suck even though the price is high (giving the impression that it's higher quality). xD
