Just some notes I've been meaning to lay out in a tutorial. This very much applies to humans too!! Don't discredit this as valuable information just because it has "stupid furries." It's just the genre I work easier in. Hope you guys find it helpful!

but I love making my characters generic and giving them fifty thousand colours to simulate the unique-ness of my character but really he's as generic as any of the thousands of multi-coloured furs out there

If I could go back in time and give this to myself when I first started drawing, I would. Much more useful than all the "How to Draw Manga" books I used to read because I was a stupid teenager who thought that kind of thing was cool!

Thanks so very much-- and omg those How to Draw Mangas XD I know I've spent over $200 on those stupid things. XDDD They have some great inking techniques in the horror one, and a few of theirs are really good, however any and all of those how to draw books seem rather pointless. They pretty much show you how THEY draw, with little reasoning behind what they're doing. They just say "Draw a ball. draw the face here. tada! Here's some eyes you can copy!" So people grow up drawing what they see, with little reason behind it, instead of learning techniques to apply on their own.

Inking techniques, huh? I sure can use help on them, even though I just do digital anyway. Lineart is not something I've ever been good with.

Good reasoning, though. Ah, to be young again. Good thing there are still artists like you, teaching us all the basics!
