I always thought they were called Statistics, and that they were once humans but because of the Event or whatever it was that happened caused them to transform from Hazel exposure. So the group, instead of calling them dead demon zombie things, just started saying that all these dead were "just another statistic" and the name ended up sticking. At least this is my headcanon generated from the original Statistic Attack Chronics I think it was.

I really like how the textures are mixed in with the dark setting in this image. They definitely give it a "creepy/horror" theme. :3.
