Description
This is a piece I did last year for FarFutureEnterprises. A Traveller Free Trader launches a missile after being hit by a Pirate vessel.

Actually, Defiant looks like the Beowulf class Free Trader. The Beowulf was designed in 1978.

Yep! I did the original in pen and ink long ago, for Digest Group. This is an all-new digital interpretation.

The pop-up control jets are a feature most artists don't think about, for a zero-gee, zero-atmosphere ordinance.

I had had the idea for some time, that space to space missiles would have thrusters mounted likr this. When the assignment came to illustrate this scene, I immediately jumped at the chance to illustrate my idea. Part of me is just a frustrated engineer.

A missile makes better sense than an energy beam weapon. Played Traveller a couple of times years ago and never got use to the rules.
