Description Cork enamel: opague "Marigold yellow" glass & glass threads over copper dome - 7/8" (22mm).

Wood: ebony (African blackwood?). The top is end-grain.

Ebony is very hard to photograph effectively. The design was originally an oriental character but the threads rolled around in the kiln. A few specs of other glass dot the surface - probably from doing backing enamel on another piece at the same time - a definite no-no.

The black-yellow-white combination is most thrilling.

Keep up the good work!

Hey, thanks. The ebony seems to go well with any color

I love the accidents-that-still-work-out sort of thing.

where does one get ebony to work with?

Most of what I do is a series of disasters leading to a result. I got my piece of ebony from the scrap bin of a fancy wood store. They sell the smallest scraps to wood turners for making pens. In this case, I bought a rather large piece (50cm/50cm/ 300cm) & sliced the cork top off like a sausage.

Thanks. I haven't the fainst idea what I'll do with all the corks, I just make them, but they almost all are sized for wine bottles. I'm compulsive & probablely not entirely compus mentus.

lol...well i think you could sell them as fansy wine corks...but i'm not sure who would go for it cuz usually you just can reuse the cork that originally came w/ the wine...but they would look cool in fancy colored glass bottles...for decoration
