Description soldered rings in sterling & copper - (L to R) onyx(?), jadite, carnelian & "goldstone". Silver earrings are in the foreground.

I took a night course by Dennis Sustric where we learned basic soldering by making a ring - my only jewelry education. So I was compelled to make dozens of rings with & without stones. The carnelian ring, second from the right, is my first ring.

These rings really are lovely and although they are simple they are wonderfully crafted. If you had a shop, i would certainly buy them for myself! You should be proud of your work, they look wonderful.

Goldstone are imitation of Sunstone, or oligoclase is a plagioclase feldspar in which platelet of hematite , goethite and sometime actinolite are responsible for its adularescence.

In Goldstone, platelet of copper in glass gives a similar effect.

I like your work !

Thanks for the info. I just bought a bunch of stones from a market stall & I rarely know exactly what they actually are - only that they look good. DA is giving me a better education. I'll have to check out Sunstone.

I think 'goldstone' is made from copper filings & glass, so, you are right, it does go really well with a copper setting. It's a favorite as well.
