“What? That can’t possibly be right!” The archaeologist, Durin, stared at the foreign controls, trying to understand the machinery around him. The brass cogs, steampipes, and large plating made up the majority of the room, except for large vertical containers on the sides and a massive, complex system at the end of the hall. Durin had been working on said system for some time now, interfacing with it to discover some clue about the ruins. But, what it was telling him made no sense. It couldn’t be true. “Hey, professor, you might want to stop doing whatever you’re doing,” said his fellow archaeologist, Mara, quite nervously. The noise of the room grew louder, and all around the vertical containers began to open. “But… That means none of this is real? They built this world and the gate to the outside world. Why?” For him the answers had only brought forth more questions. Not that he’d have much time to contemplate them.
