Ever though about covering the roof with a snow mesh? Like taking a highly subdivided plane, placing it over the roof like a blanket and sculpting it to look like snow on the roof? Maybe something like this as an idea?:

Many of the things I'm producing are born from tutorials. Cool image btw. My goal is to take the traditional artwork I had produced in the past and 3D them. Thanks for your input and advice.

Very pretty, but I agree about the two-direction sun. I'd go farther. From the look of the mountains, I'd guess the barn is entirely in shadow, lit entirely by diffuse light from the whole sky.
