Species Name: Gulo fatalis

Ancestor: Wolverine

Height: 3 feet

Weight: 80-280 lbs

Life Span: 40-60 years

Diet: Carnivore

Habitat: Blizzard tundra of Northern Europe

Behavior: Solitary ambush hunter

Description: This terrifying, white-furred, saber-toothed beast patrols the tundra like an albino Grim Reaper, hunting on the weak, ill and tired among the herds of Shagrats and Shagsheep, among others. They're the apex predators of this frozen land, armed with 6-inch canines resembling those of the feared Smilodon. It is territorial, but as the tundra on which it lives supports very few large plant-eaters, there is little in the way of regular prey here. The territory of a single snowstalker covers several square miles.
Because of the large distances between the territories of neighbors and potential partners, Snowstalkers mate infrequently. Thin populations such as this are prone to inbreeding and the genetic weakness it brings, so the Snowstalker has evolved a way to overcome the risk. A female Snowstalker enters estrus, her fertile period, every 21 days. Each time she mates, the fertilized embryo is held in a kind of suspension.
