Description
Gigantacuña
Scientific name: Brontolama megalaps
Other Names: Llamathere, Giant Llama
Ancestor: Vicuña
Diet: Leaves
Habitat and range: Antarctican forests and highlands
When talking of Antarctican megafauna, one can never fail to mention the mighty Gigantacuña. Descended of the Vicuña that bravely crossed the Patagonian Land Bridge, they quickly developed into massive beasts. Gigantacuña are roughly 12 feet tall at the shoulders, almost as tall as the massive Syrian Camel of the Pleistocene, with a thick, dense frame, pillar-like legs, and short, sparse fur. Despite being almost as tall as a Mastotherium, Gigantacuña are far lighter and more fragile. While safe from most predators, a strong pack of Crocottas can often take down an adult Gigantacuña with less difficulty than one might expect. Of course, even older more sickly Gigantacuña will put up a good fight, and can often injure or kill a Crocotta in the process with their powerful legs. Gigantacuña are solitary animals, only getting together to breed.
