In Sweden these are called KungsΓ€ngslilja (literally meaning "King's field lily", and it's the flower of the province in which I live. I see these every summer, they're very lovely. Myth has it, that there was a battle between the Danish and the Swedes, and for every soldier that died one of these flowers grew; red for the Danes, white for the Swedes. Because the white ones are so rare, it's believed the Swedes won a great victory that day.
