Description I <3 black lines now.

This is a redesign of the main character (Piper Pax) from my novel Thorns, which I'm currently rewriting...I figured some updated images might spur me on to write more. I'll be redesigning some other main characters too.

I actually went blonde after designing Piper.. I liked it so much! But no, she's way cooler looking, if I do say so myself..

I REALLY like the coloring.
Not just the color scheme, but so much in the way you handle shadows in it. I think it's got a lot going for it

Thanks! I'm just experimenting...normally, not only do I not use lineart, I avoid using black at all costs..

Yep, I have an intuos 3 wacom tablet, and a 6D art pen

i personally prefer the older one, but it is purely for taste reasons, nothing to do with quality. this version has a more comic-book feel to it; less magical imo. but it's good you're getting inspired!! and experimenting is always a positive thing!

I dunno.. it might be partially the setting. We shall see when I do a full illustration

oh no, dont be dismayed! maybe it IS the setting. after all, the old picture had a nice background going, while this is just a headshot. im looking forward to seeing the full illustration!
