Description disclaimer-ish...I like writing down things I have sorta "figured out" over the years, and some people seem to find it helpful, but this isn't the word of god and I'm sure a lot of much smarter people have given better over the years, so please understand that this is just my personal experience/opinion speaking and nothing else.

second disclaimer: as I said in the tutorial, this is aimed at strictly cartoony styles, NOT REALISM. I realize there is sometimes a boob-space in real life. My argument is that a cartoony style with lines requires some realism sacrifices in order to draw your attention to more important things, like gesture and shape.

Also I drew the examples in like 10 seconds so.. sorry, they're not the best, haha. PIIIINK

anyway, these are all things I would have liked to know about 5 years ago, so that's why I wrote this. (I'm looking through my old art. YEEP! it's scarier than that ghost I saw the other day.)

Another thing that makes characters look older is the height of their mouth. The lower the mouth is on the face, the older the character looks. I've done that one before.

Yay useful-ness! I actually read a book about realism drawing, and it said to leave the teeth as one big hunk, so it's not just stylistic.

This is really helpful, but actually, it mostly helps me with how to make characters look OLDER! Most of my characters look like teenagers when I draw them, and I can't make them look their proper age without making them look ancient! Thanks for this!

Wow, this is actually really helpful. Especially the part on drawing breasts. I've only done it twice (once example is in my gallery), but I wish I saw this before I started! Then again, I didn't use any references. My roommate would've probably thought me weird. This is a good reference!

This is extremely helpful! There's a lot of tutorials on basic face shape/features, but this is the first one I've found to show the difference between what features make people look younger/older. Kudos for making it.

yeah, you're right, that was a pretty silly statement, it's definitely not true across the board.

i've always had trouble making my characters look older rather than making them look younger, my 'older' characters always look about 20... odd.

XD thankyou for this tutorial-thing! <3

Thanks for making this. I do so love information.

This is a great reference. I've found myself breaking some of these guidelines before (specifically the first one with putting too many lines on a face), and wondering why my characters look old. Now I've got a checklist to go over whenever I find that happening. Thanks!
