Description So for this week, based on Patreon polls I decided draw a sequence
for my original species, Slimesects

I've been redesigning my weird symbiotic alien bugs in secret, hoozah!

Hopefully it's an improvement and not a downgrade.

Feel free to ask questions if you have any. I know I've been getting some and I'm trying to answer them the best I can despite the fact that their concept isn't completely final yet.Hope you enjoy my more personal content. I know I haven't been drawing as much Pokémon lately.

You say that they are symbiotic in nature,
tough what benefits does a human gain?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to Ocxin [2019-02-20 22:31:47 +0000 UTC]

"Symbiosis (from Greek συμβίωσις "living together", from σύν "together" and βίωσις "living") is any type of a close and long-term biological interaction between two different biological organisms, be it mutualistic, commensalistic, or parasitic."

Doesn't necessarily have to gain anything. Can be positive, neutral or negative.

Tough have you not distinguished
it from a parasitic relationship before?

Ocxin [2019-02-20 13:16:10 +0000 UTC]

I prefer the previous version,
as they looked squishier and
overall more like insects.

Thwill In reply to Ocxin [2019-02-20 22:34:48 +0000 UTC]

Fair enough. Although can't argue over a generic worker looking less insect like but I'd have to object over them being squishier before :v

I think it's the mooscle.

It makes the armor-like harder
parts more promiment, taking away
from the squish.
I think connecting it more to the body could help.

I have a question. Why do the slimesects make that glug sound when they transform?

Sooo, any inspiration from Venom perhaps? Maybe not so much the Genocide part, but the goop  acting as a sentient symbiote reminds me of that a little, Heh ^_^

Venom, eeeeh can't really say it did for this particular case, no.

Ooh, I love it! Reminds me of Malificus's Succubats, but gooey (if you know what those are).

Do you have info on slimesects written anywhere that I could see? I'd love to read through it if you do! If you don't, are you planning on posting it all, or just saying a bit with each drawing you do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to BobThePeanut [2019-02-09 04:05:14 +0000 UTC]

Huh. I'll take that as a compliment?

There's a doc I'm working on that I don't plan on making public until completion. I'm just that much of a perfectionist and I hope you understand

But I will definitely let some trivia facts alongside posts, the same way I tend to leave puns in my work.

BobThePeanut In reply to Thwill [2019-02-09 17:19:21 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry, it's for sure a compliment, haha. I just found a similarity between the two, is all.

Haha, yeah, I understand being a perfectionist. I'm excited nonetheless! Good luck on finishing it. Until then, I'm happy to just follow along with what you draw!

So workers don't have wings anymore?

Do all slimesects have the same colors? Or does it depend on their class or hive(if hives are even a thing), or is it just completely random?

Where do the little bugs and cocoon seed things come from?

Have you figured out what exactly workers do yet?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to A-non-mouse [2019-02-07 02:16:45 +0000 UTC]

There are winged and unwinged workers.

Their colora will depend on the hive they belong to among other factors.

The seeds are merely eggs laid by the queen, they spread through various means.

And yes, of course I know what workers do.

A-non-mouse In reply to Thwill [2019-02-07 08:10:48 +0000 UTC]

(also if you don't mind me asking, how do the eggs spread?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

A-non-mouse In reply to Thwill [2019-02-07 03:39:18 +0000 UTC]

thank you!

(Er. I meant could you tell me what workers in this hive do? Like, what does being a worker entail? Is there any weird interesting hive maintenance they perform, or odd things they gather for the hive or something? if it's not too much trouble. Or spoilers.)

BluegirlWoomy [2019-02-06 13:05:29 +0000 UTC]

Do all slimesects create a cocoon to change their host, I've heard that when a caterpillar turns into a cocoon it will release enzymes to digest it's old body into ooze, is the same thing happening in the slimesect cocoon?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to BluegirlWoomy [2019-02-07 02:14:01 +0000 UTC]

More or less yes. The old body melts to rearranges itself.

It's typically safer for a Queen or a Princess to supervise the cocoon to assure a good development.

A defective slimesect cocoon can lead to disastrous results.

Ocxin In reply to Thwill [2019-02-20 13:17:07 +0000 UTC]

Can you explain these results?

Question

How much would it cost to get a transformation sequence like this one and with my oc becoming a slimesect?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to PhoenixTheAnimus [2019-02-07 02:11:34 +0000 UTC]

Since this is a basic worker design, a full sequence like this (possibly better) would be around 70$

They're still a work in progress

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

PhoenixTheAnimus In reply to Thwill [2019-02-09 03:14:39 +0000 UTC]

Actually how much would it be for just a slimesect?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to PhoenixTheAnimus [2019-02-09 16:17:17 +0000 UTC]

For a proper design and color, workers would be around 45$

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PhoenixTheAnimus In reply to Thwill [2019-02-10 04:15:16 +0000 UTC]

Okay thanks 😁

BluegirlWoomy [2019-02-06 08:45:13 +0000 UTC]

Is slimesect transformation painful?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to BluegirlWoomy [2019-02-07 02:05:19 +0000 UTC]

Yes and no.
The host's pain sensors are numbed during most of the process, otherwise it would be

Cedar-Ashens [2019-02-06 04:59:18 +0000 UTC]

Well for my question, is the TFee's personality still intact after they emerge from the cocoon as a slimesect?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thwill In reply to Cedar-Ashens [2019-02-07 02:04:20 +0000 UTC]

The bug doesn't really have a "proper mind" so to speak so it compensates by using the host's already existing one as a building block The body essentially keeps the same memories and personality for the most part. So aside from a few differences, they could still be seen as the same person.

So it's a bit of both.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cedar-Ashens In reply to Thwill [2019-02-07 05:51:02 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, I see :3 keeps the host's loyalties to friends and family too, or?
