Description

No one in the world needs an elephant tusk but an elephant.

I made this poster for "World Elephant Day" (which yes, I made this a day late I know). It focuses on the most brutal crime against these social, emotional, and highly intelligent creatures - poaching for their ivory tusks. Both African and Asian Elephants are in deep trouble thanks to poachers (which includes trigger-happy farmers who believe elephants are some sort of plague), extreme habitat loss, pollution and other poisons (especially the palm oil issue), and other factors. African Elephants (pictured) are straddling the edge of endangerment, listed as 'vulnerable' while Asian elephants (probably thanks to their docility thousands have been used as transportation, circus acts, and work horses for centuries) are already listed as endangered with the african elephant close behind. Extinction IS forever, don't support the ivory trade. Steer clear of ivory products, and try to avoid companies that sell and support it. Another thing, though not focused on in this particular piece, is irresponsible hunting. Trophy hunting vulnerable and endangered animals, like elephants, for a photo or mount is NOT responsible hunting and it is NOT conservation it is just as bad as poaching (though on a smaller scale) to the population of these animals.

Since creating this piece I have made another similar poster for "World Rhino Day" that can be viewed here: thylacinus1.deviantart.com/art…

NOTE: I do not take credit for the photography, only manipulation and captioning etc. This collage may be shared, but NOT edited in any way. Thanks to ****-wads trying to steal my art as their own, Im forced to use a watermark on my posters. Thanks a lot ****-wads.

quick question, do you support nonhuman rights? (great apes, Cetaceans, elephants, corvids, etc.)

Its sad that people will kill such beautiful creatures for greed. It's just not right, these animals have just as much right to live on this planet as humans do.

I know how people are stopping rhinoceros from getting killed for their horns.

First they sedate the rhinoceros drill a hole in it's horn pump this red dye thing into it which is toxic to humans so it'll be totally useless to the people who want to use the shavings of it's horn.

It's kinda similar. (Yes I know rhinoceros horns are made of keratin and tusks are made of ivory).

yeah, or unfortunately humanely trim them so a poacher won't take them (they don't grow back on a rhino, and not quickly enough on an elephant) but at least the animal is safe and still helping its population.

This sort of thing makes me so sad, If anyone calls animals savages, its US who are the Savages. Elephants grieve for their Dead family just like we do, its so sad what we are doing to them.

Elephants are just as emotional than us and they bond stronger. They can die from a broken heart just like we can

I know.. we should really help these elephants. Elephants are one of the animals I love most, they are so intelligent and thoughtful.

I started to write a poem about elephants and it turned out that I might write a short story related to them. They are amazing and very empathic living beings, they never forget

They are one of the most intelligent, sentient and emotional creatures on earth, along with cetaceans humans and other primates and some other creatures.
