Well, here's my first colored Derpy! Yay! I was inspired last night by the positive feedback I got on those old scrap drawings I did of the Doctor and Derpy, so thanks for that! I've redone the kissing scene pic on non-lined paper and I'll be coloring it soon so you guys will be seeing that I also have another few Doctor/Derpy pics that I haven't finished since last night, but I wanted to get this first one out there before I start my homework.

I don't really like to think of Derpy as a village idiot because that seems to contradict the point of MLP. You know, all the characters aren't caricatures; they have very complex personalities and histories. Derpy is no different. I imagine she was bullied a few times when she was a little filly, but she's stayed in Ponyville because ponies accept her here. In this pic, I imagine she's sharing her empathetic, kind side to the Doctor. And he likes her for that. Due to her visual impairment, she is a lot more receptive to other pony's feelings. That makes her a very good companion for him, I think.
