The red souls had fire to burn out their vengeance. The purple, ice to pierce the hides of their enemies. The blue, their poisonous gas and water to drown and sicken. Even the black, while bound to the shadows, could manipulate dark creatures at will.
But green? Nothing to fight with. What use is a gust of wind in the face of danger? Flight? Only good for fleeing.

Months ago, when the battle in the huge stone coliseum had broken out, Rowan had felt utterly useless. Even knowing her soul color, she was left helpless in that fight. The other soul colors had been able to help attack, while she had been left standing on the sidelines, trying her best to grab what fallen she could and bring them to the other green souls like Noel who had more healing power than her.

Now, standing in the dimly lit forest, Rowan repeated the same simple phrase that had kept her going. Focus. Focus. She would grow. Healing was power. She could see that now. The power to bring life to others, to keep the rest of the souls running, and flight, to get her to those in need as quickly as possible. She would become as powerful as she possibly could so that the next time Oordeel showed his ugly maw, she could fight him for all she was worth.

Focus. She watched as the glowing green tendrils began to flow from her paw pads, twisting their way up her leg. Heal. Grow. She let the other souls practice their offensive powers on her. It was best for them to practice against a live enemy. They needed to be strong. It didn't matter what happened to her body, the pain was a simple reminder of the power of healing. She could now heal her own wounds in a matter of minutes, even the deepest cuts and broken limbs.

She would focus. And she would be prepared for whatever the dark god would throw at them next.
