DΒ³SCR!PTION
The meaning of the pic is to show the kind of path we're all going. On the left side we have the oldish, familiar looking environments. While on the right we have the monstrous huge futuristic city that seems to literally eat the people, their lives and lets them appear soooo small that they almost don't count anymore. The old bridge is a kinda symbole to show that both parts are still connected and that only you alone decide to take that walk into the future or not.
On the other hand... it's just a cool sci-fi based artwork.
TECHN!CAL DETA!LS
First of all i want to tell those super critique folks that this pic is far from perfect, i know that. There's, once again, lots of experimental stuff in it. It's very different to the stuff i ever did before. Basically it's a very big huge mo0onster photo manipulation. You ask yourself why it's call matte '

WOW Tigaer! This is like one of your very best pictures! I love how you combine both the old and new architecture and link those with this interesting bridge. I like the point of view too.And the way you make those cool cyber building will forever remain a mystery to me.

I love how you connect the future and the present ^__^
Despite your "crazy critique" warning about "it's not perfect", I have something to point out...even though the perspective on the buildings is great, isn't the man/car a little big, compared to the buildings? even if you used perspective to place him against one of the buildings, it seems like if you put him up against one of them, he'd take up at least 2 or 3 floors. Comment me back and explain your view, I'm curious ^___^ and I CAN be corrected, since my perspective is sometimes a little off >_<;

uuhm... not exactly sure what you mean. but mh... the background buildings arent right behind that guy. since there's a bridge... it indicates that there is a huge river running along (which you dont see here)... so the buildings you see on the right are good 1 mile away from the person. so that the height of the person/car and the buildings can't be compared to each other... (hope that explanation makes sense...)

Keira-Sama In reply to tigaer [2006-03-28 16:26:27 +0000 UTC]
Ok, I was wondering that. It looked like the buildings were maybe only a few hundred feet away, I just couldn't tell because the bridge ran behind the trees. Thanks for explaining for me!

I'm.. impressed.
I simply love the level of detail, and the small things that would usually go unnoticed at this size (the individual windows on the buildings, the sun reflection and the mountains and towers in the background).
You are getting really, really good at matte painting, and you should keep improving your skills.
The only thing I didn't quite enjoy, and can't make myself not notice in most matte paintings is the not-so-subtle transition between the 'real world' and the 'world of painting'. That, however, is a personal preference, and something which, I believe, comes with practise.
Job well done Chris

wirklich sehr genial.

wow- reminds me of the game half-life 2 a lot! Awesome picture- looks pretty realistic-
Critiques:
Awesome job on the bridge and buildings (I didn't even know that car wasn't real at first) but look at the shadow on the car... way too soft-
The bushes look really good, but you made it easy to notice that they repeat, maybe flip and rotate some of them when you copy them-
The top of the tree looks kick@** but at the trunk, it looks very painted, maybe just a little blur or extra colours there?
It is a wonderful image though! and it's gonna be my background for a while :3
