Description
I have very mixed feelings about Ralph Bakshi's movies... the characters I like the most don't get enough screen time...In this case, Duke the Crow from Fritz the Cat and Necron/Peace from Wizards.
By the time I was done, I noticed that I forgot to give Necron a pot belly, which he clearly has on all promotional pictures of Wizards as well as throughout the movie. Oh well.
I tried experimenting with a different approach this time around. This was done entirely on computer, nothing on paper.
I also tried my hand focusing on light sources and stuff.

Yeah Duke was definitely the highlight of the first movie for me character wise. Great art!

Wow, this is cool! I love Duke with his switchblade...
Yeah, I wish that the coolest characters in Bakshi's movies got more screen time, too.

I share your mixed feelings. Really his work is so hit and miss and it seems to me like there's more miss because he just doesn't seem to put as much effort as he could have. He focuses way too much on making his work more "adult" as opposed to being "mature", if you know what I mean.
Great job on this though.

What do you think of American Pop? his best work eh? a unique, underrated and emotional animated drama with a fantastic soundtrack from vaudeville to early 80s rock. Recommended.
And what do you think of stuff like Urotsukidoji, Wicked City and Ninja Scroll?

I had actually never heard of American Pop until now. Looks like I'm going to have to give it a watch and see what it's all about.
Yoshiaki Kawajiri's work is, much like Bakshi's, very hit and miss, in my opinion. I mean Ninja Scroll was fantastic, but Wicked City, not so much. Don't get me wrong, it had plenty of potential, but the execution seemed sloppy to me. Urotsukidoji was really good though, I think it was ahead of it's time.

First thought on seeing preview image: "Haha, what is that, Psy-Crow? I love that guy!"
First thought on seeing full image: "Oh. Oh, it's . . . oh. :[ Now I'm sad."
Wizards did the most bizarrely terrible job of vilifying what it was fighting to promote - technology and minorities. I couldn't force myself to finish it, so I researched the rest of it as well as I could instead Duty as animation nerd: COMPLETE.
Poor Duke.

Ralph Bakshi killed Fritz the Cat. And I really don't see how. The first movie wasn't that awful. XD
