This page took me A LOT more time than usual due to the smoke bombs used by Eikichi and his goons. I had to draw detailed clouds of smoke to show movement. Anything else wouldnβt have worked in this specific case due to the emphasis on the impact of the bombs being thrown on the groundβ¦Related content

I did it once with photoshop and it took me 2 hours or more to color one page, while in the same time, I could have finished 3 pages with real ink and paper. T__T

It seems like Leo forgetting about Renoir's existence/presence is becoming a running gag, like Donnie's obsession with collecting samples from him. :3
Although I can't help but wonder if Renoir's magatama (which Davianna gave him) is somehow making Leo forget about him again and again. Β It's looking more and more like Leo arranged for Sayako's daughter to have the Yasakani no Magatama (the remaining artifact from the Japanese imperial regalia along with the Kusanagi and the Yata no Kagami) so she could be protected somehow. Β But now that Renoir has it, it's no longer protecting her.

Or maybe it's just that the main storyline's back on wheels, so Renoir has to take the backseat for a while.

Your smoke bomb lines are a pretty old technique to show movement. I recall you even using it to show movement in the first chapter.

Yeah I used to do that a lot more, but it's a bit too demanding and can outright double the time I must invest in a page.

You pencil things before you ink them, right? Something I have tried is to draw normally in pencil and then add effects in the inking stage, such as blurr lines are sharp squiggly lines to show a cartoony effect for being shocked . My methods are probably not super effective for the kind of detail you have.
