If eclipse is going to be really that bad than I might try uploading my art to twitter and I might try out some of these websites.

Personally, I'd recommend Waterfall.Social over Pillowfort.
They're both Tumblr alternatives but Waterfall doesn't require you to pay to join and is a lot more open to people viewing its content without having an account if that makes sense?
(From what I've seen of Pillowfort, you need to have an account to look at posts on the site. Waterfall only does that for NSFW accounts.)
Waterfall also has a Commission Market where you can scroll through peoples commission listings. (Though at the moment, it only works for Stripe but that's just because PayPal sucks, lol.)

No problem! There's a lot of stuff the Waterfall staff have planned/have in development atm for artists (and writers.)
(+ I haven't had the chance to actually use Stripe yet (though I have an account) but it seems like a much better option from what I've seen of it!)

I also suggest inkbunny.net/ and www.sofurry.com/ for my fellow furry artists! Not quite as much traffic there, but it's a good place to get extra views.

i do kindly want to say that inkbunny is a site where a lot of ... unsavoury artists tend to gather, and its often considered a red flag if you have an account on there. i'd be careful about recommending it!

I mean, it depends on what you define as unsavoury. I definitely draw things that people would consider "not okay". I don't draw anything like, pedophilia or such things, but I definitely draw questionable things ha.

I'm surprised you say tumblr gave you a lot of engagement. To me Tumblr is a dead fish ;lkjh been there for good few years and no one seems to care, while twitter, which I have for only a month, seems way more engaging!
On Tumblr I can get 1000 reblogs one day and zero for half a year, no matter the tags if it's not fanart. Number of followers doesn't seem to change a single thing either + they removed the ability to read what people tagged a reblogged post, so this neat little way of some kind of commenting on someone's work is just gone.

I managed to get only around 600 followers and it's become tiny bit more consistent? But nothing compared to dA, it really feels like home here so it hurts a lot to see it crumble :c
And ooh? where is the option to read the tags? All I can see is reading comments and text added when reblogging >0> the tag crawler is not an option in Labs for me anymore so uh? + I see a lot of posts complaining about it being gone too

i would HEAVILY avoid telegram, actually
i used to use telegram to post my content to a massive server in, then dip
but posting to telegram also includes dealing with the people IN IT.
because of the incognito-type form to telegram, lots of people feel safe there to post cp or zoo stuff
because i was posting furry art, in other furry servers, it wasn't uncommon to be randomly sent either or from random people i didn't know
yes, you can turn off the private messaging parts iirc, but it doesn't stop people from posting it in the regular chats
it's not bad if you can handle fighting through that but i got so fed up of being sent roleplay requests and the illegal stuff quickly when i had my dms open for commission reasons
on telegram, if you have your dms open- even if its just for commissions- be prepared to get sent a lot of garbage depending on what youre doing LMAO
also. its hard to find any channels on there. skjdfhskd
literally fuck da though
this platform is absolutely useless for artists doing commissions LMAO
and sdjfhdsk i think its really hard to gain traction on deviantart without using the "heavy" tags, like fandoms and stuff
the newest page makes it really hard to find people, and the popular page is now the default, making it worse
i think this website caters to people who are larger, which makes it especially hard for anyone else- ive been on here for 5 years and havent gone literally anywhere so i just gave up LMAO

those channels would be extremely helpful LMAO
ive found a few of those on discord, actually! i think discord is better because its much, mUCH safer, and much more moderated and organized
on telegram, it's easy to get buried due to not having anything to separate things as well
but i will admit, the time i was on there, i did get a lot more commissions than without it
recently ive started putting my discord public on my pages though, and it's helped me pull in more commissioners, so id absolutely recommend discord LMAO

I feel so much fresh now actually! I wanted to move accounts on dA but Eclipse ruined that for me,so starting over on Twitter with so many artists going there too was relieving!
Also, there's a website that's on the works called Artri.se which many people are considering moving to,could serve as good info for everyone looking for something similar to dA ;D

May be a bit of helpful info, but using the Facebook creator studio, you link an Instagram to a facebook and can schedule and view analytics on Instagram (and facebook) posts from your desktop! once I found out about it, it changed my world with Instagram!

I've been on this site for 7 years, and enjoy this version and the even older versions of DA. Eclipse doesn't even feel like DA anymore. It's very hard to gain an audience here. I've had better luck with Telegram, and Facebook even.
Goodluck to all artists in their new ventures. Wonderfully put post as well.

There's a new site in the works called Artri.se . It's gonna be similar to Deviantart but also seems more user friendly. You can read about it here in their group: www.deviantart.com/artri-se . I don't know about you guys, I'm heading there once the site is up and running!

I feel like this is a pretty useful guide for artists to consider...
I've been on deviantart for 11 years now and I was barely able to gain an audience, no matter how hard I tried. After moving around to a few other websites, I noticed it was a lot easier to achieve a larger following and get my artwork noticed.
It's important for artists to expand their image and see what works best instead of staying stagnant in one place.
Thanks for sharing and good luck out there, everyone!
