you should think about adding pixiv! it's a japanese art site, which is also available in english, chinese, and korean! I don't know much about it because I just joined today, but it's very easy to find fanart if that's what you're into. the site has a different layout than da and stuff so it may be a little hard to get used to at first!

Should also include Furrylife.online, it's got it's own commission market, groups for posting art in that'd be GREAT for running species, and the staff are all very friendly. Quiet site, but that makes the discord more of an actual community.

What a great list for any friends that may need this. I will send them this way.

As for me. I have been here since 2001, 18 years in December and have invested way too much to leave. Not only that it's hard for a photographer to find other places these days. All those sites are not for me and I have nowhere else to go.
I have been through all these layouts except v1 and v1.2.

I'm extremely glad you think this might help out some friends!
But, moreso, extremely sorry about the place you're in right now. Kudos to you for sticking with DeviantArt for almost 18 years! I wish I could offer more viable resources to you.

Indeed!
Yeah, it was WAY different back then and dA didn't start changing like this til 2009 and lots of people will say that. I just can't believe how things have changed so much in 2 decades. O_o
And thank you anyway, it's the thought that counts!

Same. But I mainly use mobile, so even though they've just made journal text pink, I feel like as long as I only have to touch browser for groups and editing descriptions, I can survive here.

I still hate eclipse though. Like, I really hate eclipse, but as I don't really have any alternatives (none of the alternatives in the list are really something I'd use/ not active yet), I'm sticking around.

Definetly suggest Furrylife.online . While it's sort of geared towards furry artists, it's plenty open and common to see humanoid, landscape, artisan crafts and more unique types of artwork, including music making!

Pros: Easy to navigate once you spend about an hour on it, very strict with NSFW art and filters. Tag friendly, and the front page is minor friendly as long as you have the nsfw option turned off. There's multiple types of censorship when it comes to NSFW work, the "mature" filter, which usually has more pin-up type art, and its fair share of gore/violence for those that enjoy that sort of stuff. And the "adult" filter, which has the more sensitive subjects, fetishes, and body horror. All are easily turned of an on. Don't enjoy seeing art of gore or pin-up style art, but do in works of literature? It has the option to censor art but not works of writing! Very strict with art theft, and have users as mods and admins. They tend to listen to their userbase when making big decisions!
(I actually know one of the moderators personally, and they are amazing.)

Cons: It's not very popular, and a bit hard to gain a large following, but it gets easier the more you post! The profile settings can be a bit confusing to navigate when you first make your profile.

Does anyone know any sites similar to Sta.sh where we can upload images? Because I've been using it a lot recently and I heard it'll be Thanos-snapped once Eclipse comes, I'm sure I'm not the only one who relies on it. D:

Edit: has clarified that only Sta.sh Writer will be removed. However, I think this information's important for Deviants who are packing up their bags and moving towns but want a similar site to store their images. Thank you for the responses!

I see why they called it "Eclipse".

They created the unwanted "Eclipse" which is blocking out the light of the design,
layout and nice pathways of the original DeviantArt which forces deviants to abandon their comfort.
Not sure why but...they're sorta stupid and I also understand that they have to keep this site up to date.

Another one that I was on was  furrylife.online/

Pros: Casually and geared towards more furry related artwork. Has an in-site artist's beware so you know who to look out for commissions wise.
Cons: Not very well known, and not many people online.

Personal opinion, but I do find the layout a little confusing, so there's also that.

Also, as a note for instagram: You can right click, go to "inspect" and click this , and refresh, you should be able to upload things? With the new update I can't seem to find the upload button so I'll just have to go back to doing this.

I love Instagram. It's honestly a really good way to get popular fast.

I do see a lot of art reposters which kinda fucking sucks. And there's like so much drama in the art community but it's easy to block out.

I personally recommend Instagram, as an artist. <3

But I guess people have their own opinions on the site which I do respect.

ALSO, you can use it on desktop. There's been an update on the web browser and you can use all the mechanics now on the site without using blue stacks and such. Well, this isn't 100% valid but I've been using desktop and it's been working for me. I was able to post my recent post through my web browser.

I hope this helps a bit, I know that this isn't 100% accurate but like Insta is a pretty good platform in my opinion.

Of course! I know I might not be 100% accurate but I just wanted to throw in some more pros. The pros out weigh the cons when it comes to IG.

ChatFraise In reply to uhhlias [2020-04-25 06:30:28 +0000 UTC]

I’m not sure. I’ve never really had IG ruin the res completely. It does compress images I guess to prevent theft n such (as well as the capacity of the images might be too big for the site so they have it automatically compressed)

I usually use a 2000 x 2000 canvas and it doesn’t chew up the quality of my pieces! And I always save as a png file.

Anything bigger or smaller will take a hard blow.

I hope this helps!

Slight addition to the Pixiv portion, Pixiv has its own picture dictionary to help people out with Japanese terms: dic.pixiv.net/

That and typing an English word into the search box helps you find a matching Japanese term. It's somewhat helpful; keyword "somewhat."
