I'm on DA for the ressources and Stock images (brush, models, patterns, textures) and the new site makes it impossible to search and navigate. Thank you for this very sourced list, yet none of these options will answer this specific need of mine : a "ressources for artists" database. I'll end up on shutterstock, seriously, this sucks. i'm so frustrated.

All DA really has to do to fix Eclipse is listen to their fanbase (excluding the ones that have 'don't give us Eclipse' as their feedback)
and add the features requested, fix bugs and the unfriendliness of the UI.
As it is right now, Eclipse is more catering to a person on mobile as opposed to those on a browser.
Unfortunately I fear Wix is calling all the shots like powerful companies tend to do when acquiring the weak. :/

The admins are doing it. Saw this during the Tumblr implosion and the first roll out of Eclipse. The admins are running scared and trying to suppress information. Keep updating tell they break!

AO3 does allow for Original work! (there's a Fandom tag called "Original Work" for example). Obv it's not what the site mostly caters to but it is possible!

Im worried about this, as a lot of artists will leave this site after eclipse, Getting commisions or adopts will be harder, and depending of this on quarantine to help to pay services hits hard, and migrating its like starting again. Well if this thing gets worse that would be the unique optionm

Con : all art must respect the japanese laws of censorship
Pro : has its own proprietary Patreon rival system known as Pixiv Fanbox
Instagram : it is not possible to view instagram without an account
Ko-fi : does not seems to allow a search for art (without an account at least), just the search for artists
Patreon : does not allow the viewing of posts without a patreon account
Archive Of Our Own (AO3) : yes, nsfw stories are allowed. yes, you have a user profile.
the site does not host art, just stories tough you have the list of stories you wrote in your profile. would this counts as a gallery?
Newgrounds :
Con : does not offer folders and sub-folders for the gallery. comment system is limited to one comment per person per image. Only the author can reply to a comment.
Pro : can easily host music, games, videos and animations. when making animation, it has a ease of discovery for using music and voice actors from the audio pages to collaborate with for your movie or game. (internet animations ARE newgrounds' main draw afterall.)
tolerates ALL art, no censorship, no image size limitation.

Hm, poked around a bit, but the only winamp stuff I could find was in the forums, wasn't actually hosted on newgrounds, and was mostly a bunch of likely long-dead disposable filesharing links.

Well, it used to be a pretty big deal back in the 00's (the Internet Archives alone have preserved over 60,000 skins, including over 100 of my older ones, and there are still more that are likely lost now), so it still surprises me that Newgrounds didn't have a category for it back in the day. In any case, thank you for sharing what you know.
