I'd recommend Newgrounds, ArtStation, and Pixiv to post art, Hentai Foundry to post porn, and Archive Of Our Own to post stories.

AO3 is great! The only crappy part is you cannot link back to any kind of store page, Patreon, etc. So if you have a Ko-fi or Patreon and link to it, even in your profile, you risk getting banned. They're strict on the whole "no profit" kinda thing, even if you're doing it for original stuff.

What nasty things?... About furries? I didn't say a thing about them. Just that "this and that is for X". So... IG, FB users? But isn't that true? Oh yes, we do not love the truth, it is very ugly. Isn't it?
Or people can't simply discuss in your post? Discuss the alternatives? If not, just turn off the comments. All of them.
I know, due to world pandemic, and now with this Eclipse, everyone has become nervous, but so what, then, I can't express my opinion? Like, are we locked up here in isolation, too? Great.

not likely. they're hellbent on making things "mobile friendly" which is inherently unfriendly for artists because it removes the things we rely on for our communities and layouts. Eclipse is their next step to mobile "Friendliness" and trying to keep with current design trends, so it's very unlikely they'll listen to their actual users. The steep ignorance towards the artists that make the site what it is has been a long-standing problem.
that said, i don't plan on leaving either, simply because i have too much uploaded here for me to abandon it. I just hope other users who leave will let their stuff stay up and visible rather than nuking their galleries ;-;

Honestly I wont leave either because I dont want to abandon my art and the fan art I made I'm on a phone and sometimes is hard to see a picture in a comment it looks like the workds are on it which annoys me a little otherwise I'll still be here

I hope the site crashes and burns. I'm so glad all my friends are leaving this garbage heap of a site and going to better places. The admins here are completely useless and I've had to deal with some horrible people on my own because of their incompetence. Good riddance DA. You won't be missed.

I originally discovered dA back in 2006, but at that time, I didn't know anything about having an account, so I randomly joined in 2010.
My Core membership will expire in 2021 or 2022.

IMHO Instagram isn't that great. It favors already popular people and doesn't show your own artwork at the top of followers lists until you've exceeded certain follower numbers, I believe. Makes it really hard for beginner artists, or artists who don't have a big following to begin with, to share their art. Your art tends to also quickly get buried under hundreds of photos, much like on DeviantART, but at least here we have things called groups.
Also, if you plan on promoting your page, which claims to bring in a lot of new followers and so on and so forth - it doesn't really bring in anyone. I tried on my old account, and I found no difference in followers or follower activity. It's just a huge waste of money.

I've seen quite a few people askin' about writing sites, and wanted to add another option. I'm not sure if there's a high "share with others" or community engagement options since I post all my writing privately with no tags, but wordpress is the site I use to post all my writing. If anything, it might be good for people to check out?

Adding onto the person recommending fanfiction.net - there's also fictionpress.net. it's run by the same people iirc, and focuses on just original work.

I highly recommend Ao3 (Archive of Our Own) It's very active, user friendly and it's great for old and newer writers alike. I have been on the site for over two years now with fifteen stories posted, and I get double the attention on Ao3 than I have on FFN. Ao3 also has better features for loading fics or chapters to those fics that are multi - whereas it's more runaround with FFN. Even the tagging system on Ao3 is more diverse, clean, and makes it so much easier to find the fics you want to read. It also makes it easier for writers to help get their work out there and noticed. For writers, Ao3 seems the best option, and this is to Wattpad, Wordpress, and Fanfiction.net.

I read a lot of fanfiction on AO3 and it's interface is very user friendly. i just use FFN because it was the first fanfic site i was introduced to and i met my two best friends on there (i don't know if they have AO3 accounts, so FFN is the best way for me to contact them). I do love AO3 though and it's one of the best sites for writers I've seen.

I found that really, the only bonus FFN as going for itself is the PM interface which makes it easier to directly contact people without the use of a comments section on fics. Unfortunately, Ao3 doesn't have this (though, it would be amazing if they did!) but aside from that, FFN is severely lacking and I am saying this despite knowing about the site, using the site and reading on the site since it's practical inception back in the late 90's. FFN was good at one time, I won't lie, but in comparison to Ao3, it's severely lacking.
Hell, I nearly groan in frustration and reluctance when it comes time to update my main novel on FFN. While it takes me half the time on Ao3, and less hassle, it feels such a burden to load on FFN, which has brought me to the point on several occasions to consider a cease of uploading to the site, but because I also have a few devote readers on the site, I haven't done so. But I will attest, it's not my first choice for publishing.
Aside from being a waypoint to contact people, it's subpar at best.

I completely understand how you feel. It also doesn't help that you have to let them know that you have read and agreed to the guidelines every 7 days or so. However, like i said, i don't think my friends have AO3 accounts and i already have several stories on FFN (a couple that aren't even finished yet). Plus, it's one of the few non-blog sites I personally know of where you can post literature, so it and AO3 are my top choices (you can also read on those without needing an account, which is one thing i HATE about Wattpad......)

If you are looking to post original stories (since the below comments mention fanfiction sites) you could use Fictionpress. If you are just writing fanfiction then Ao3 and Fanfiction.net are your best bet.
