Description A little something from the depths of my hard drive. Made this months ago, never got around to posting it. Basically, it's supposed to be a bronze sculpture depicting two tockneff (one of the many alien species that populate my mind) stealing a meal from a maternity ward. Why and how are hard to say, considering humans are not present in the same galaxy as the tockneff, but nonetheless, there it is.

Yes. Baby eating is funny.

stunning work. love the details on creatures. especially on neck and shoulder area. babies need kinda more natural pose... but that's a small detail.

congrats on the DD and keep up the great work!

You're right - if I were to work on this more I'd do a lot of tweaking on the babies and the creatures' hands and feet. Try and impart a greater sense of weight into it.

To be honest, the babies were added at the very end as kindof an afterthought, an in-joke between me and a friend of mine. Didn't put much work into them. (The poses, however, were also supposed to be somewhat comedic - the baby in the nearer monster's grip has a shocked expression, surprised, I suppose, to find itself being carried off by the head.)

Thanks for the comment!

how do you go about making something like this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TiJiL In reply to cardboardmemory [2009-03-11 22:48:26 +0000 UTC]

Design wise? I draw while I am supposed to be taking notes in class. A lot of the design just ends up falling together as I make it in 3d, though. I start by building a very basic, low-detail mesh in 3dsmax or Maya, then import it into Zbrush to sculpt all the little details.

Thanks for the comment!

Oh, this is just priceless! But I would pay a fortune to own one, if you ever decided to have it sculpted. I love it. It's odd how real baby eating is taboo, but we all find it amusing.

Oh, i didn't notice an infant, there. I thought you were portraying something entirely different: something you'd note as being typical in a dog-oriented park, you know. Frankly I was a little shocked, I read the description of the peice just to realize your rationale by, what I thought, was a graphic depiction of consensuality.

It's nice to be wrong, because, dude, that'd be icky.

TiJiL In reply to russiantea87 [2009-03-11 22:46:56 +0000 UTC]

Aye, who do you take me for? I'm not some sicko! It's a completely innocent picture of two aliens carrying away newborn human infants so they can tear them into strips and eat them! Very wholesome subject matter, with no such unsavory subtext!

russiantea87 In reply to TiJiL [2009-03-12 06:57:44 +0000 UTC]

I was joking man. I said I thought it looked like that, thought being the emphasized noun, dude. Still you have to admit, from the small sample shot...almost anyone would've had to go in to see the actual portrayed moment.
Brilliant aliens by the way: I'm more of a fantasy man myself, but I more than appreciate sci-fi.

Ever hear of a film called 'Gattaca'?

Also. Hi. I'm russiantea. Nice to meet you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Lol.

TiJiL In reply to russiantea87 [2009-03-12 17:12:32 +0000 UTC]

Hehehe... Don't worry about it, I was joking too. I don't see baby eating as a wholesome subject matter in the first place. While I wasn't trying for anything more gruesome than that, I don't have any room to be offended by the suggestion.

I've seen Gattaca. It's alright. I like the name more than anything (it being made of the letters of the genetic code and all).

And Hi Russiantea. Glad you like the aliens.

russiantea87 In reply to TiJiL [2009-03-12 23:48:24 +0000 UTC]

what do you mean by 'room', like limits, or what, what're you talking about man?
Please ensue to regale me with the meaning behind what you said...

I wasn't aware of that factoid, thanks. And, of course I like the aliens. (Sigh)Unfortunately, I've never witnessed the actual movie: saw Outland though. Sean Connery as a cop, with a shotgun, in SPACE!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TiJiL In reply to russiantea87 [2009-03-12 23:51:16 +0000 UTC]

I mean to say I'm already depicting aliens stealing babies as a food source. Ergo I'm already a sick mofo. And so it would be ridiculous of me to be offended by someone calling me a sick mofo.

Outland sounds good. Sean Connery + shotgun + space sounds like a winning formula in my book.

Dude, Stanley, the guy who did the shining__he had to take some flak for the elevator full of blood (among other thing)__my point being, dude, you're not twisted: now, if you actually depicted them EATING THE CHILD< ALIVE!, then you'd be exceeding the boundaries of artistic expression. I think.
But otherwise, go nuts, man. I loved it.
