It's very beautifull, really.
But, could you add a name for every single symbol? I mean for every cross, animal, square...
It's disturbing when you don't know what you see and when maybe wiki is not so good.

The three black lions are Swabia, the white eagle with the blue tongue and claws is Frankfurt on Main and the check board is Aschersleben, those guys were ancestors of the Ascanians.
And I rather not. Those pages are completley disconnected from what I do here, they are just my personal pages.

Because it's not there. That only became Hannover's arms very late in Germany's history. For a long time it only was the arms of Brunswick-LΓΌneburg (as the state was called then) and it's arms were the two golden lions on red plus the blue lion and hearts on gold. Here found on the eagle since the state is part of the Electoral Council

They are the different Reichskreise (Imperial Circles) making up the Empire. They are similar to the real circles of the HRE of our timeline, just way more important. The are, clockwise:Β
-Prussian Circle
-Westphalian Circle
-Italian Circle
-Bavarian Circle
-Franconian Circle
-Saxon Circle
-Circle of the Holy See
-Lower Saxon Circle
-Upper Rhenish Circle
-Swabian Circle
-Burgundian Circle
-Bohemian Circle
-Austrian Circle

What is an Imperial Circle?
π: 0 β©: 1
TiltschMaster In reply to Emilion-3 [2016-03-29 12:21:47 +0000 UTC]
The HRE (as you may know) was a very loosley tied together state and a huge territorial clusterfuck. To make matters of policy, taxation and most of all military organization easier, during the 15th century the lands of the HRE were organized into so called Imperial Circles wich were essantialy basic administrative divisions grouping together several territories for the organization of military and taxation and to better organize the Imperial Diet (the "parliament" of the HRE, if you wanted to call it that). The Crown of Bohemia, the Swiss Confederation, Imperial Italy were however not circled, as were several minor territories wich were directly governed by the Holy Roman Emperor as so called Imperial Immediacies. Intitaly there were 6 circles set up in 1500, then in 1512 three more were added and the enormous Saxon circle got divided into two, so that there were from then on till the end of the HRE 10 Imperial Circles.
More can be found here:Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperialβ¦ or on the German version of the article wich you can probably translate to readable English via google Β

TiltschMaster In reply to Emilion-3 [2016-03-29 20:15:11 +0000 UTC]
Well first of all the Circles here are actual federal states, not like in OTL where they were a much more lose form of organizing a shit ton of nearly independent states. The number of states is also highly reduced in this, all states who are representated in this arms are all the states this HRE is composed of, so many of OTL's states of the HRE don't exist. Italy is also firmly integrated into this HRE, while in OTL it slipped from the grasp of Imperial power pretty early on and devolved into an Italy of independent duchies and republics. The Imperial Diet now is also not the highest parliamentary body of the Emperor, instead being replaced by the Electoral Council, composed of the monarchs represented on the eagle who rule alongside the Emperor and elect a new Emperor (wich is basicaly cinfirming a Habsburg Emperor into office or actualy choose an Emperor in the case of succession crisis).Β
This HRE is basicaly a theocratic, less democratic and a bit more complicated German Empire of 1871, also featuring a larger variety of ethnicities, mainly because of Imperial Italy and Burgundy.

HouseOfHesse In reply to TiltschMaster [2016-03-19 13:32:28 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! And I am, I tried to do a coat of arms to display all the territories of Austria on the good ol' Austrian eagle, like they were in OTL, then kind of surrounded by the arms of the other (major) German states, but it got so complex that my brain shut down and my computer threw a hissy fit haha
Also: a) Your maps definitely do not suck, and b) any perceived sucky-ness at cartography is more than made up for by your skill at heraldry. And besides, being excellent at everything is just rude tbhΒ Β

TiltschMaster In reply to HouseOfHesse [2016-03-19 16:08:58 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, our country was such a gigantic clusterfuck, I don't think a normal eagle has enough space to put everything on it Your solution was pretty good though! I liked the small details like the double-headed eagles on the crown and such

And thanks! :3

Why is Upper Lusatia's wall white though? o_O

TiltschMaster In reply to SoaringAven [2016-01-18 12:56:23 +0000 UTC]
In the coats of arms of Austrian EMperors on wikimedia the wall is white. It's just as confusing as the coat of arms of dalmatia. Sometimes the stripe in the middle is green, sometimes it's red, I just don't know!
And yes, in our timeline it was, but here it is centralized and Bohemia bows to the Emperor! Β
