Description This is the Specialist Weapons and Arms Guard Variable Bullpup Config 6.8, or for short the S.W.A.G. VBC 6.8.

Boasting fully ambidextrous design features including the charging handle, Mag release, and Fire mode selector which are all located on the top, back or underside of the gun, while there is a bolt catch on either side of the receiver and a lever at the back that rotates the firing chamber 180 degrees so you can change the direction of ejection in a flash. The rotating bolt is cylindrical so it can slide in and out of the chamber no matter which angle it is at.

Features a 15 inch barrel for carbine and a 20 inch barrel for DMR (Carbine version shown here).

Uses a short stroke gas piston design for maximum reliability - The gases are blasted out the front of the gas tube once used; instead of building up on the inside of the receiver like the popular AR15 design, which uses a direct impingement blowback type.

Comes without ironsights, but with an ACOG sight and a red dot sight (ACOG shown here) instead, which can be used separately or (if desired) together thanks to the extended rails on top the receiver.

Comes with the short handguard plus the 3 rails shown so a multitude of attachments can be added; Flashlights, Grips, Laser pointers, IR pointers, you name it.

Also comes with the stock; the stock is adjustable so fit the operator comfortably.

The magwell will take any STANAG or PMAG magazines, but you can buy the green magazine to suit the colour scheme of the gun (If you so desire, this is optional).

I'll bring out a render soon so everyone can see it all shiny and such, and probably another image showing it with the RDS, 20 inch barrel and Folded too.

In this image you can see it folded with the internals exposed. A plastic cap can be fitted over the exposed areas to prevent crap getting inside, although I'll probably implement a built in wall blocking most of the gaps later.

You can also see the cover for the Charging Handle runners at the top, as mentioned in the last picture.

And finally this picture is shown with the 20 inch DMR Barrel installed (Its changable with a 15 inch carbine barrel; you twist it to take it out. The threading is in the front half of the gun, so the barrel at the fold stays the same with no complicated stuff).

Some Stats:

Action: Gas Blowback, w/ piston

Barrel Length: 15 inch (Carbine)

20 inch (DMR)

Effective Range: 450m w/ RDS

650m w/ ACOG

Muzzle velocity: 810 m/s (2,650 ft/s)

Rate of fire: 850 rounds/min

Feed system: 30-round detachable STANAG/PMAG box magazine

Weight: 5Kg (Loaded with DMR barrel and ACOG)

3.5Kg (Loaded with Carbine barrel and RDS)

Also big up to for helping me choose where to put some of the features.

UPDATE:

In response to comments I have updated the VBC.

I have changed the calibre from 5.56 NATO to 6.8 Remington SPC.

Enlarged the rear of receiver for better flow of Bolt Carrier.

Made Charging Handle taller and slightly wider for easier use.

Added a cover to the Charging Handles grooves/runners which works like a zip.

Great concept! I would love to see something like this in real life, even though I would prefer a standard configuration over a bullpup. I hope we see more like this!

Fantastic modeling and lighting work. A little constructive criticism though? the textures have a little to much of a matte look, and don't seem like metal to me, but the model is very good.

Thanks for saying. Its not my best render I will admit, but I made this specifically for a competition and the render wasn't important, just the design.

Yeah its the "spiritual successor" to the L85A2/SA80.

Funny that, because most of the work you have done looks like something I would have watched on Saturday morning Television when I was 5.

relax, I was joking!

you rendering is impressive,
but the coloron parts of the weapon
kinda mistake this firearm for an actual
plastic toy gun...don't you agree?

but that' only my perspective, no need
to bite me head off mate!

No I wouldn't. Bear in mind this gun is clean; there is no dirt, grime, or sand like you find with most used guns, nor scratches. Admittedly I did forget the bump maps which seems to be something people are picking up on, but I assure you it is not MEANT to look like a toy.

OK then, thanks for that note.

Another awesome design!
SWAG? Sorry, but, I can't help but giggle when I read that... reminds me a dubstep song I heard once!
I know it's an abbreviation, though.

Timaman In reply to Duckyworth [2012-02-08 19:12:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah its supposed to be a bit of a rip on stuff like that... it took me and a while to come up with a good abbreviation for it.

But yeah this design has been rendering on my computer for about 5 or so hours while I've been at college, maxing out my computers pathetic CPU. I intend to put this to bed now and do some more gorillaz based graphics work, as I notice it is quite popular... (Half of the views I get go to one piece of gorillaz art lol).

Looks kind of like the L85A1, and I really like that design. So props to thee.

I'm not entirely sure of this exact shade of green though; maybe try a lighter shrubbery green or a darker evergreen forest green?

Timaman In reply to JakezuGD [2012-02-08 18:54:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, you could call the L85 its 'Spiritual Successor'. As for the green, I didn't put much thought into the shade other than that it needed to look realistic for a gun. I think it suits well really. Thanks for your comment.

more hard edges will help the model retain it's shape when you smooth it. lot of your parts are really mushy, ie the foregrip in green

also retracting stock is really small and trigger guard too
barrel and gas brake are h

Timaman In reply to 543Bs0Za [2012-02-08 18:45:10 +0000 UTC]

I think you fail to realize this image is taken with perspective; that is, the stock is smaller because it is further away from the camera.

The trigger guard is actually the correct size and probably a touch larger than that of an AR15 model.

And describing a 3d model of a gun as "mushy" really makes no sense to me at all.

He means the foregrip looks rubbery like you could squeeze it and it would deform.

Timaman In reply to SomeNavySEALs [2012-02-08 21:12:15 +0000 UTC]

If he does mean that, then he is wrong. The green parts are made from a Impact Resistant sythetic Polymer, similar to the materials used to make the frames of Glock Pistols.

SomeNavySEALs In reply to Timaman [2012-02-08 22:45:07 +0000 UTC]

That's fine but it still looks mushy, we're refering to the look not the stats.

SomeNavySEALs In reply to SomeNavySEALs [2012-02-08 21:09:23 +0000 UTC]

er, the cowling/foregrip not the vertical RIS grip. Y U NO have a post edit system dA?

Timaman In reply to SomeNavySEALs [2012-02-08 22:59:05 +0000 UTC]

The handguard is made from the same stuff. And when you say "we're refering to the look not the stats" you make yourself sound like a judge, which I don't think you are.

SomeNavySEALs In reply to Timaman [2012-02-08 23:17:29 +0000 UTC]

I meant cahemmy123 and I.
Fine, I'm refering to the smooth rounded look not the physical properties of composit resin.

I would like to make it clear since mood is hard to convey via text, I'm not trying to be hostile or critical in any way.
