I must say I'm very impressed and envious

Do you do all the metal work too? Where did you learn to do this amazing books?!

Also I'm wondering if I could commission some book corners from you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TimBakerFX In reply to NoraDevius [2008-10-03 04:25:26 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much

Yes, I do all the work myself. Like any process I think it's just a matter of getting the right information. I did some google searches and found all I needed to know about acid etching. I already do mold making of any type so that part is easy. The process is not really that difficult, you should try it.

I might be interested in doing commissions, what do you have in mind?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NoraDevius In reply to TimBakerFX [2008-10-03 04:40:58 +0000 UTC]

Well, you're amazing and I don't think its as easy as you make it sound It takes real talent. Plus, working with melted metal sounds kinda scary...

For commission I would be interested in book corners and perhaps a center piece. I'm working on a book for myself right now and I'd love to have some of that impressive metal work on it. I'll send you a note tonight to let you know the details, if that's okay

batosail [2008-09-26 19:01:29 +0000 UTC]

what have you use to make the frame of the book? Is this metal?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TimBakerFX In reply to batosail [2008-10-17 18:23:36 +0000 UTC]

I used thin plywood, 1/8th inch thick (maybe 2.5mm). that worked quite well. They carry really thin plywood at hobby shops
