I was so surprised that there wasn't a full tutorial on Points, especially not found easily. So I took some time and put this together.
Time taken: About 2-3 Hours
I hope this is helpful!
Edit 1: I have gotten some suggestions to add a chunk about the Llama Trade. However until I have some time, to add it I would like to explain it here [removed]
Edit 2: Fixed a typo!
Edit 3: Because of the release of Version 7, (Tutorial for it here at the top of these comments) I will be updating this shortly with changes to accommodate V7.

nice lil' tutorial you have here! This will be very informative to those new deviants who joined up, or senior members who are new to the points system (like me xD)
I did want to point out though, that you have a minor spelling error at the bottom, where you're talking about the llama trade. The sentence is:
"At the Llama Trade you can accept offers from the list cy clicking "Accept Offers" when they pop up."
That 'cy' should be 'by' =3

You can "Buy a sub" but then in doing so there is a box to give to another deviant.

I have a quick question though (I'm not sure where else to ask): when trading points for llamas, isn't my llama count meant to decrease, seeing as I'm trading one for a Point?

My only qualm is that "an artist normally charges between 50-500 points for a commission"
because, seriously, no artist should be charging less than a dollar to $5 for a commission.
I think they should easily charge thousands of points for a commission. I'd be charging like... I dunno 40,000 points for one of my standard commissions.

It's really undercharging yourself as an artist unless you're barely beginning.
for $5, it had better be under an hour's worth of work, or else you're working for less than minimum wage.
I rarely do $5 loose sketches when I just want to experiment with something new. My standard is usually $30-40 for a single character, no background commission. Once anything starts getting added, I raise the price.
And according to all my friends, I'm vastly undercharging myself as is.

Points are a great way to get Subscriptions. Subscriptions seriously benefit you as an artist by allowing you to post Thumbnails of your own work and many other such ways.
I see you are actually one, so not sure why you should be complaining

No, they don't.
You could just as easily post a link, but thumbnails look prettier and are more convenient. And can't you post thumbnails in artists' comments, even if you're not a subscriber?
It doesn't have anything to do with art. It's about extra features on an art WEBSITE.
And me being a subscriber? It's because they were throwing that 'buy one get one yourself' party last Christmas. It has nothing to do with the fact that I wanted one; I was going to buy one for my friend whether I got one or not.
