"Damn, boy," Storm said with a sidelong glance, "You've been sulking over her all evening. Ex?"
Kato made a 'tch' noise at the back of his throat and stared at his silent phone. "Not even," he sighed, knowing how pathetic the whole thing must seem, "I just have this unfortunate habit of over-inflating my importance in people's lives."
He half-expected Storm to scoff pityingly at him at the end of his sentence, but she didn't; instead she drained her drink and rapped her knuckles against his glass.
"Been there. Finish this, then we can get out of here, yeah?"
Kato stared at her. "Didn't you come here with Athena?" he asked, then added rather awkwardly; "And...I don't...usually sleep with women." He still obediently finished the last of his Black Russian, though, and Storm rolled her eyes.
"One--Athena already took off with Teagan; she doesn't need a ride. Two--I just meant we could get your sulky ass some fresh air and new scenery, I'm not necessarily gunning to fuck you. Three--Genderfluid, so check yourself. Maybe you do wanna sleep with me. Now c'mon." She stood up and offered the bartender her credit card, then glanced over her shoulder and gave Kato a pointed eyebrow-raise that clearly said "Well?"
Kato cast one last backwards glance across the bar, his heart still heavy, and caved. He wouldn't be missed.
"Alright. Let's go."
