Okay, first thing you'll probably notice about this Doctor is

1 Robotnik is a villian of a series, not a hero
2 unlike Colin Baker when he played the part Robotnik is grossly overweight
3 there are 2 of them here.

Hold those typing fingers just a second and let me explain.

First this character choice was in no way influenced by the fact that Colin Baker today has put on a few stone in his old age so lets just get that out of the way.

Second I chose Robotnik because there are very few heros in Video games that are arrogant and can come across as a little psychotic at times.

The 6th Doctor suffered from a regeneration that went badly wrong due to a neuro-toxin flowing into his brain shutting his body down forcing regeneration. The outcome was a Doctor who was very short tempered, mean and moody, someone who never suffered fools gladly and at times would even get his hands dirty. He even came out with some tasteless remarks that were in as good taste as his coat was.

However that was only the Doctor as we first met him. His regeneration took a long while to settle down almost as if his previous self was annoyed that his life was cut short so and this was being released in this new incarnation. When it did settle down we had a Doctor who could be considered an all time classic. He was funny, fun loving, though still a touch on the arrogant side he sounded less like he was belittling people and more like he was trying to get them to understand what he was saying. (we never got to see most of that in the series, but we do get to see a lot of it in Big Finish audios which have expanded the 6th Doctor by quite a lot.)

There were no heros whom I could think of who fit that bill, but then came a strike of inspiration, Eggman Robotnik did.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik, or Eggman was a villian who was a genius sporting a high IQ, was often arrogant and violently tempered, lashing out at a moments notice. Yet there are times when the character comes across as someone who might be more gentle underneath or maybe once was but his ideas of world domination drives him to do bad. He was also the kind of villian you liked because in the games he has a lot of character. Plus like the 6th Doctor Robotnik really doesn't have a good taste in clothes.

To add to these 6th Doctor parralels, in the comics Robotnik once started out as the scientist Dr. Kintobor who was a good man who only wanted to advance science to serve the people of the world. But an accident with an egg machine slowly turned him evil. This was the opposite of what happened to the 6th Doctor in that he started out deranged and unstable and settled down into a more loveable character as his regeneration became more stable.

I've drawn two versions here, the one on the left features the classic 6th Doctor costume, a patchwork coat of many colours which was supposed to reflect this Doctors fractures persona. However recently the 6th Doctor has been given a costume more in taste with what the actor Colin Baker wanted for his Doctor, something dark and flowing, this is the costume on the right. Though this costume was never seen in the TV series it is featured on the cover of many Big Finish audios making it the alternative costume to 6s explosion-in-a-rainbow-factory coat, though I do like the original coat despite it being an eye-sore (I've since trained my eyes to just see it as a red coat ) I prefer the darker one as it better reflects what the 6th Doctor eventually becomes, and probably what he would've become had the series allowed him to stay longer.

But alas, forces inside the BBC desperate to can the show meddled with everything to do with Doctor Who to drive down its quality, a meddling that started in Colin Bakers run and was what got the actor eventually fired from the role despite the problem being in the production, not the actor.

Note: I do realise that the Doctor on the right has his buttons on the wrong side of the waistcoat. I didn't notice this until I'd loaded it up so there is very little I can do to fix it.

I haven't drawn him with any companions because I'm starting to have difficulty finding characters in games who match the companions personalities, even by a stretch. So I'm just going to make pictures of the Doctors from now on.
