Description
Whole helm from 410 stainless. Just finishing up the file work and as the title suggests there were a few casualties.

I just love these, that's one of the coolest ways to make a period helmet work in the SCA.

That wingnut in the middle of the forehead must make this painful to wear. Nice work.

Knowing the work involved in making this I can appreciate the results a lot more.
I do hope you replaced the flynuts with rivets though
did you do the whole face cold-working?

lol yeah here's the look of the helm before the heat treaters : douglaspryor.com/blog/
It can be seen in the first post with the new gorget I'm working on.
The rivets I went back over with a custom rivet stamp I made, and the face I had to do with my forge, so it's raw hammer work, it was way to thick and tough for any pitch bowl work. Believe me I tried, it broke a few of my favorite chisels. I still need to finish the engraving on the helm and make new pins for the locking cheek plates but it's practically there.
