That is just so awesomely detailed (the face plate is a little "busy" around the cheeks/above the mustache, but everything else is exceptionally well done) did they put an aventail on it, or are the grommets for attaching a liner?

And thanks very much Β I will keep it up! here's my website if you haven't seen it already, you can check out more of this helm and others like it: www.douglaspryor.com

Wow. Β Love the metalwork on the helmet. Β It's also great to see the work in a "real" environment. Β It suddenly becomes more alive, and full of stories. Β I do a lot of sculpture work, and I've finally figured out how to photograph against a good "neutral" background, but I'm thinking about trying to put sculptures in a more active background, so as to give them more of a "story".
Great work!

Very cool -not only an amazing job to you on the helmet, but your composition for the photo is excellent -beautiful work all the way around!
How long did this take you to make? From start to finish...

Thank you very much!Β vimeo.com/plaidzebra helped me with the photo's
From start to finish it may have been 30-60 hours of actual labor. I'd add all the time I spent thinking about it, or trying to figure out what to do next but that would make it seem so much longer. You can see the build/shaping process on my work blog at www.douglaspryor.com

*laughs* I know EXACTLY what you mean about factoring in the time spent on the mental aspects of it. I can't even tell you how much time I spend designing something and re-designing it in my head before I actually start work on it...and then the time I put into it mentally even 'during' the work on it!
Thanks for the link -I'll check out your blog.
